What is everyone's opinion of the plus/minus grading system?

Initially I hated it because it lowered my GPA in certain subjects but now I think it should be implemented everywhere. A 90 on a test is way different than a 100 on a test and should be recognized as such.

I don't know anything about it.

Why not just leave everything as they are graded? On the 100 point scale?

Really makes a difference in classes with different scales too.

Took a physics class last semester and got a 79 C. A buddy of mine got a 62 C. That C is the same on the transcript but obviously is a much different grade.

They use 1 - 10 here in Mexico, I actually think that it's a pretty simple scale.

And I take issue with this. Your buddy probably didn't prepare as well as you did and doesn't understand the material as much as you but is rewarded the same.

It's definitely more simple but i don't think it rewards grades properly.

I think I remember one semester in college where I had all A's except for one A-, and it pulled my GPA down, or something like that. I remember it making me mad though.

It was also used in my high school, but I never thought much about it one way or the other.

It's bullshite, and I'm really glad I graduated just in time to avoid it. It only punishes people, doesn't reward them. It's just for the nerds who study their balls off and make hundreds on everything feel better about themselves over the smart guys who go out and party and merely make 90s.

It should just be a plus system, no minuses.

Hate it right now having gone back to school. But we had +/- in HS, I just didn't think much of it.

I hated it because going into my final semester I just needed a C in this one class to graduate. Teacher decided to use +/- and I made a 72 in the class which was a "-" so the class didn't count toward my major. Had to retake it in summer school.

That's the only time in the business school I ever had the +/- system.
