Pretty amazing stat. Malzahn is 22-6 against the spread as a head coach.

How's Bama in their last 28 games? You realize spreads are based on what 50% of the people bet on what will happen, right?

Yes, I'm aware of how sports betting works.

Bama was excellent ATS from 2008-2009. Eventually the betters adjusted and the points Bama needed to cover grew exponentially.

Saw a Stat that said if you bet $100 on Auburn to cover in the last 13 games you'd have won $800,000

That's a myth. For the Super Bowl, yes. On games where far less is bet, they want most of the money on the losing side.

ETA: Have you ever heard the term "trap game"?

I must have posted a dozen times on here how sports bettors had no clue last year on AU.

I know I said in the preseason AU as a home dog against Ole Piss was the lock of the century and repeated half a dozen times.

Also I posted at least 5 times the average amount AU was covering the spread by before the IB and SECCG and BCSNCG.

Seriously had to have made two dozen posts about it last year.

And it isn't just covering the spread. AU had been destroyng the spread with double digit covers in about 75% of those games. I have NEVER seen sports bettors so wrong about a team over such a long period. And I've been doing this a while and looked athundreds of thousands of lines in my life.

Teams get hot and cover for a while at times, but seriously I would like an example of a team covering by so much over such an extended period.

Sometimes this is true. Sometimes it's not. Like you say, it depends on how big the game is. Vegas made a shitload this Sunday because the bets were disproportionately on the favorite side while underdogs went 10-3 ATS.

True, but it's also unprecedented for a team to go from 0-8 to playing in the national title. It's hard to blame bettors. Everyone felt they were overrated every week and would eventually return to earth, but they just kept winning.

Dude, stop with the trap game. Biggest falacy ever, used by desperate gamblers forever. Been hearing that term for over 20 years now. It's a red flag for someone who thinks they know something about making lines because they read sbr.

I would venture a guess and say Vegas has a great day when most of the dogs cover.

Alabama is 67-59-3 against the spread the last ten years.

Florida 66-58-3
Missouri 67-58-1
Auburn 67-57-1
Alabama 67-59-3
South Carolina 63-56-5

Most everyone else is at or below .500 ATS.

.......and I have been burned by it more than once. I don't remember what year it was but Tub took Auburn into Arky on an absolute roll. Auburn was -1. Biggest joke of a line I have ever seen. I blew my lunch money for six months when Arky beat the shite out of our guys that day.

I won't argue with you about it. I've spent countless hours on this subject and literally thousands of hours talking to people about sports betting, and that is just talking and discussing it and various people's strategies and beliefs. I did it hard core for a while and even as a 50-60 hour a week full time job for almost 18 months. Tracked tens of thousands of bets and every dollar bet in spreadsheets. Full time. Even won money over a long period and LOTS of bets.

Anyway, there is no such thing as a trap game the way most bettors define it and think of it. I hate that mentality of vegas must know something. Loser mentality and an excuse.

No offense. Seriously. And I'll get off my soap box now.

....I was a bookie for ten years. I had over 60 clients. The lower tier buddies played $25 a game. The upper tier played up to three dimes a game. My freedom was worth more than the multiple tens of thousands of dollars I made a year. If you follow every line, it will astonish you how good the guys in Vegas are. If you think Vegas doesn't know what they are doing, the thousands of hours you spent studying it went for naught.
