OXFORD -- A group is questioning the role of religion inside the Ole Miss football program.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a Madison, Wisconsin-based group dedicated to the separation between church and state, has sent an open records request to Ole Miss, the Daily Mississippian reported.
A staff attorney told the campus newspaper that the group is seeking policies on coach and chaplain-led prayers, religious service schedules, records of communications between the coaching staff and team chaplain John Powell, Powell's payment records and his job duties.

Forgive them Freeze for they know not what they do.

Unless Ole Miss is forcing their players to pray, attend mass, etc., these Wisconsin people can GF themselves.

All they have to do is go find them an MSU board. They'll quickly learn that Freeze is a fake Christian and then move on.

When Ole Miss beat Boise, I thought I noticed that it was a God thing.

As the crosses burn...

Whoops...maybe we better think of another title for an Ole Miss investigation.

Lots of character assassination in N Mississippi these days. First Colonel Reb, now Jesus.

I can't imagine that Ole Miss is doing anything atypical in this regard. These are all adults, sure young adults who are still more kid than full grown adults but legal adults nonetheless.

Ole Miss would really have to be guilty of coercion in order for anything to remotely register. SCOTUS is concerned with making sure no one is forced to pray or follow a belief system/religion and as long as that's not happening there's not much here. The only other thing I can think of that would get them in trouble is if the Chaplains aren't rotating out (e.g. at UT a different Chaplain will do the prayer so everyone's included) but are instead showing religious favoritism to one group (e.g. only ever allowing X group to pray or making it denominational instead of universal).

My only problem is when Freeze uses this in recruiting. I think a strong religious unity is actually paramount to success in a team-oriented setting. Kind if unifies everybody. But that recruiting shite is hokie as hell. Especially when using it against State.

all that this company is trying to do is make money.

Come in...try to prove someone didn't want to be there...then BOOM, lawsuit.

I, for one, hope their headquarters burns down with them inside of it.

i doubt one of their members are on the football team. I wish the whole program and all their players would tell them to frick off and mind their own business. I hate groups that think they need to fight battles for people who never ask for their assistance. Worse than lowly arse PETA IYAM
