Apologies if this has been posted, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Alabama fans, I watched a little of the West Virginia game on TV this past weekend. How do you think Kiffin will work out as an offensive coordinator and with Saban?

Alabama obviously put up a ton of yards on West Virginia, but who hasn't? Alabama was extremely balanced in the run/pass ratio and successful on third downs. Sims played favorably...I can't believe I'm saying this, but the offense looked more consistent and efficient than the defense.

However, Saban was constantly breathing down Kiffin's neck...following him around like a shadow. Do you think this will last? Kiffin has an ego as does Saban. Do you think Kiffin will continue with this or will Saban "let up". Face it, Saban isn't known for his offensive abilities, but he was in every huddle, call, and such.

Thoughts?

Im happy with the offense as far as it being game. One. Defense bothers me. If it doesnt tighten up it will cost us 3 games at least

I think Saban can and will tighten it up...what are your thoughts just on their general demeanor together. It looked....awkward and uncomfortable.

You're lying. Saban only gives advice between drives and Kiffin is such as a great offensive mind he needs no help.

D should probably loosen up against HUNH teams like TAMU.

Saban's got the reigns drawn pretty damn tight on Lane, and for good reason IMO.

I imagine he'll loosen up when things gel a little me. iIRC, Kiffin requested to coach from the field. So he'll have to deal wih the boss man.

I was very pleased with the playcalls, although if we are to move forward with Sims as the starter we need to utilize his athleticism more often.

I liked him on the sideline. it was the first game and they were breaking in a new QB I imagine it will loosen up as the season goes along.

I also read somewhere that the BS was reading the wrong signals or not calling the plays correctly so Saban may have been hovering to hear the calls and see if BS was making the right ones.

It's a trust issue. First game with new O.C.. Did same with other coaches.

Yeah. Blitzes dont really work with those offenes. Man coverage and bump and run would do better to throw off the timing I assume.

I thought it was odd, but didn't read too much into it. 2014 is going to be different, and I'm excited about that.

I'm not sure but several times it looked like Kiffin was asking for input more than it was Saban hovering over him. JMO tho.

You may be right.

I think it was more Saban just listening in to see/hear the calls. Also, it's natural for the OC to check with the boss on how they wanna handle this series (i.e. if Nick is gonna go for it on 4th down that can affect what play/personnel is used on 3rd down.).

I know all the TMZ Sports-types on here want to make more out of it than it was, but it looked like normal HC/OC interaction to me.
