LSU beat Wisconsin because of the defense and because Wisconsin offense sucked donkeys trying to throw the ball...it was painful watching that 6'5" or 6'6" kid trying to throw...he was scared to deat6h of being hit...put him back at safety or punt protection..etc etc.

LSU is going to lose some games...its offense was not any better and if Wisconsin would have had a qb who could throw the ball and a wr who could catch..LSU loses last night by at least 20 points...honestly. Miss St, Ole Miss, UF, AU, Bama are possible/probable Ls. Just so you know.

Im not mad at LSU...Im mad about watching a game that had no offense...but I like defenses. I figured LSU would have a tough go of it with new qb and last night confirmed it.

BTW LSU is my favorite SEC team next to the Gators, just so you know.

LSU's young defense grew up in a hurry in that juggernaut of a contest. But after Whisky lost 2 NT's to injury, I think everyone in the stadium knew what was going to happen.

So LSU's offense scoring 28 points to Wisky's 24 wasn't a factor?

have you even glanced at the stat line?

Jennings had 239 yards and 2 TD throws

Hilliard 118 yards rushing and 1 TD

Dural had 151 yards receiving

thank you! This guy gets it. We had no offense... In the first half! They came alive late after they decided to trust the players and take the training wheels off.

The score was 28-24...not 9-6. Obviously, there was offense. Did we watch the same game?

Was everybody here born this summer?

2009 our QB play was terrible and we had to come from behind to WIN our opener over a Washington team that went 0-12 the year before. We went 9-3 in the regular season.

2010 we looked very sloppy and shaky in an opening WIN over a suspension-depleted North Carolina, then did nothing offensively in another sloppy WIN against West Virginia. We went 10-2 in the regular season.

2011 Jarrett Lee had terrible stats in the opening WIN against Oregon. We went 12-0 in the regular season.

2012 we had no offense the whole year and looked very unimpressive in an opening WIN over North Texas. We went 10-2 in the regular season.

2013 we had no defense and had some problems in an opening WIN against a terrible TCU team. We went 9-3 in the regular season.

So, now in 2014, we WIN in a big comeback over a ranked opponent, using our biggest question mark (QB and WRs) to do it, and suddenly we're losing 5 games? Good luck waiting on those five regular season losses for LSU. Here's a hint: bring a snack.

Thanks for crediting a major reason LSU won. Wisconsin did not have SEC depth on the D-line, and the front 7 was new, but they did an outstanding job versus LSU while healthy. Wisconsin returned 3 starters in the secondary, but that was where LSU's best plays came against.

I read that Melvin Gordon only got 3 carries in the second half; that's boneheaded. Running the ball was Wisconsin's strength, and they abandoned it. LSU was the better team, but Wisconsin deserved to win.

An objective look at that game will show that LSU didn't "improve dramatically" in the span of 1 quarter. Wisconsin's poor playcalling and injuries allowed LSU to complete a comeback.
