I think Texas A&M busted the spread myth last night.

A lot of spread teams are discredited for not being physical and playing soft. The Aggies offense was laying down the hat on multiple occasions. This isn't even getting into SCARs defense. Sumlin did a hell of a job to ready his boys. It seems that not only do you have to defend them in open space but you also have to match them physically. Should be an interesting SEC West this year.
And yeah I started like 7 threads in the past 24 hours. Can LSU play like now?

The real question is, how long till Saban switches to the spread?

I was most impressed with the wide receiver blocking. Those guys were killing people and extending plays.

Our jumbo package looked good. Interested to see if we can power the ball in those situations against Bama, Aub, LSU.

You guys looked great last night imo. Was not expecting that. Yall looked in midseason form and better than any game last season

I was impressed with the Effort. Lot of hustle and desire even with the blocking, as some have noticed. The entire team was ready to do their job, they knew what the needed to do.

9 times out of 10 the air raid spread teams beat you with speed and space. If that does not work they get destroyed. aTm beat USC with size, physical dominance, and efficiency. Combine spread elements with an All-SEC OL and huge receivers and last night is what you get. It's just so rare to see a team who looks like a pro style team but chooses to run the spread.

Even their running game looked pretty which is crazy. Seeiously, that offense doesn't look like a "gimmick" anymore. It looks like a well oiled machine and everyone doing their jobs. Props to Sumlin.

All of this. People don't realize that Sumlin is attempting something that has never been done. Even Oregon has never had the superior offensive line and huge receivers.

Are people just stupid? The two best rushing attacks in the SEC last season ran the spread.

Their offensive line is two RS seniors, a RS Jr, a rs SO, and a junior. That is their starters. That is an ALL BIG-12 offensive line.

Never. While defenses adjust to stop HUNH, the Pro Style smash mouth will become even more effective.
Though during the Spring some players said that Kiffin was bringing more spread elements than they thought.

Interesting. With kiffin in the mix, I think you guys may line up in a traditional set but shift to more spread looks than in the past. It all will depend on the QB's ability. Good luck.

In what way did they ever look like a "gimmick" offense? That's like saying Kelly and Leach ran "gimmick" offenses.. just because they use different passing concepts and route trees.
