if you could have Malzahn or Sumlin as your OC for a guaranteed 5 years, would you be ok with dropping the pro set for the HUNH spread?

Nah. Why try to change a winning formula?

Better question:

Would would do to get a real defense?

Not at the expense of the defense.

well malzahn`s version does tend to hold onto the ball longer.

No.

The more teams that run that offense, the more defenses are going to change to stop it. Which makes it easier for our pro-style.

If I get to keep a good defense I'd be all for it . But at times the pro style smash mouth football is needed

Alabama and LSU don't play gimmick / gay football. They play smash mouth football

Which is why I would choose Malzahn. His version is a modern update of the system that Nebraska ran under Tom Osborne.

No team will ever run the HUNH while being able to field an elite D. You can't have two different identities for your football team.

ETA: To answer the question, no. Defense wins championships. A flashy offense and wet paper D won't win shite.

No, the HUNH is fun at times, but I wouldn't want it as my bread and butter.

I never want Bama to run a HUNH or a spread.

I will take it over a crappy pro style coach, reluctantly.

Yes. If only Auburn could line up and run between the tackles.
