quote:

“Mike Davis has been hurt, he hasn’t practiced all week,” coach Steve Spurrier told the Sportstalk radio network after Wednesday’s practice. “I don’t know if he’d even be able to start or not. But we got Brandon Wilds, he’s ready to go. Shon Carson, Dave Williams, so we’re in good shape there.”

quote:

Davis missed the second straight day of practice with what he described as a rib injury. He told The State on Tuesday night that it wasn’t anything serious. Running backs coach Everette Sands also told The State that it wasn’t anything to worry about.

But Spurrier said, “He hasn’t practiced much, so we’ll see how much he’s ready to play for the game.”

Is it because of all that extra weight putting too much stress on his ankles?

I'm kidding

I agree I don't think it would affect the aTm game because yall's defense is so terrible we could probably get 100 yards out of a walkon.

But it is discouraging to see Davis starting off the season the way he ended last season. He was a very different back playing injured than he was at the beginning of the year

Classic Spurrier move. He'll almost certainly play, but if he doesn't it's probably as impactful as an injury could be on a game. I haven't seen one single analyst, fan or otherwise cite Dylan Thompson's passing as a reason why USC will win.

I'll gladly take a 60% Davis over a healthy one, though.

This.

I'll take any SEC dub by hook or by crook if we can get it.

Preferably by crook, of course

We got two guys behind him with legitimate experience. And no one has talked about Dylan when Mike is obviously the star of our offense, at least going into the season. However, from what I've gathered over the last year or so is that you don't need a gunslinger to shred up A&Ms secondary.

Spearmint is a sandbagging SOB isn't he? No way Davis doesn't play.

They aren't Mike Davis though, that's all I'm saying.

Our defense's Jon isn't going to keep you from scoring, but with your biggest offensive weapon not at 100%, we stand a chance of keeping you from scoring as much as us.

I'm curious to see if A&M will score as much as many will think. Yes, I know Sumlin always has his offense going but first SEC game of the season, hostile environment, new QB and SCAR has good defense. Could be interesting.

I mean its not like we have talent all over the place everywhere else. I'm not confident in winning the game, but we will move the ball and score

Being able to run the ball on A&M should be the least of your worries.

Oh I'm not doubting A&M won't put up points. But having season opener away and at one of the most hostile environments in the SEC is rough.

Clay Honeycutt is 3rd string at safety now.

Y'all could be in deep trouble.

Right. Which is why I think we ultimately lose and we probably wont score as much as we will a couple weeks into the season. But I think our offense won't be why we lose
