Along with 169 women who identified as members of other racial minorities. This was also the largest rush class ever. (Which they say every year).

All were offered bids from every sorority participating in Rush. Nice to see progress being made.

I think it is. It's something that needs to be in the open.

Isn't this board where we discuss everything pertaining to the University of Alabama? Well this definitely does. And since this was such a big deal last year, it's nice to see progress being made.

I could have sworn that I've seen all topics pertaining to The University of Alabama, the state of Alabama, and the city of Tuscaloosa on this very board. What makes this different?

It's relevant to Bama sports in that segregated sororities is used as a negative recruiting tactic. It's nice to see this issue finally addressed.

Including black sororities?
I don't really care. Just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Yeah, those all black frats, sororities, clubs, etc, definitely give us all a bad name.

I just don't know why this was ever considered an issue. Clubs should be allowed to grant (or not grant) membership to whomever they wish. It's dumb that frats or sororities are even an issue.

Go look on Calvin Ridley and SBB's twitter and find out what random Miami fans are tweeting at them about Alabama. It may not make a difference in their recruitment, but you're talking about teenagers making big decisions and anything negative could push them away.

When I am speaking with prospective students Greek life comes up about 30% of the time.

None of that really affects my opinion. They should all be allowed to admit or deny whomever they wish.

quote:True, but denying a person because of their race may cause people of that race to have problems with it. If an administration supports this type of segregation, people that identify themselves with the being discriminating against will take issue with that administration. I understand that you don't care but minorities do and our football team is made up of a lot of minorities. what if nothing had changed and a top recruit spoke out publicly against it and gained support from other top recruits and we were left signing 18 3 stars and 7 2 stars because of how easy it would be to negatively recruit against Bama?

The University’s National Pan-Hellenic Council, composed of traditionally African-American greek organizations, has accepted a diverse array of members over the years. According to a 2011 article in The Crimson White, Zeta Phi Beta pledged white member Eve Dempsey in the spring of 2007, after integrating in the 1980s.

Damn those racist black frats and sororities.

As a libertarian, I support private property rights and freedom of association but UA is a public institution so it's a hazy picture. Personally, I don't why someone would join these ESP. White frays/sorties since they don't matter much after college like some black organizations.
