We're debating this in our office right now. An OSU fan, a Arky fan, and me. I said the catch at the end of the Georgia game was a miracle, but the kick6 was an amazing play. Should the game situation be factored into miracle plays? I think not. First off, the OSU fan said it's highly unlikely a college kicker would leave a 58 yard FG attempt short. I said not many kickers in college have the leg for that distance, so that isn't that uncommon. His point now is that only Auburn fans would see the kick6 as not miracle.

A miracle play to me is something you may only see once or twice in a lifetime, and there is around a 5% or less chance of the play being successful.

Yep, off season is almost over...

no.

Long field goal.
Personnel match-ups.

....not a miracle.

UGA game-winning TD = miracle.

It was an extremely rare play, but there was nothing football wise (catching, running, blocking, etc) that was unusual or miraculous.

Having said that, just let it go. It is ok if they want to label it miraculous.

UGA- Miracle

KICK6- Gamble gone wrong for Saban. Pretty stupid IMO, like having 6 Offensive Linemen on kickoff team. Those lineman trying to tackle him....

Not a miracle. Happened in the NFL with Devin Hester, Antonio Cromartie, and Nathan Vasher. It's what happens sometimes when you have linemen, a couple tight ends, a kicker, and a qb or punter (sometimes wr) chasing an electric returner. Fortunate that one second got put back on the clock, but that kicker was always leaving that short and it's not as tough as it seems to return those for touchdowns.

Miracle may not be the best word for it, but it was one of the most unlikely plays i think any of us have ever seen or will ever see.

1. A return of any kind going for 100+ yards just never happens.

2. A field goal missed short and caught by the defense happens somewhere in the realm of never.

I won't say miracle, but the stars definitely aligned for you guys in the final seconds of that game, not to take away from your victory because that was one hell of a game

I'm not relying on anything. Just pointing out a major news agency labels it a miracle. That's all.

The story sells better to say it was a season of miracles. When in reality, it was one play. The UGA game. It was bone luck

The kick 6 was just one team making one more play than then other

Us beating Miss St on the last drive was no more lucky than FSU beating us

The story sold better because we sucked so bad in 2012 which in all honesty was the real miracle. NO way that team should have been that bad

I could see it both ways...the UGA play was definitely a miracle play as without it, Auburn loses. While you don't see missed FG attempts returned often for TDs, if the Kick6 hadn't happened, the game would've still went into overtime and I think Auburn still had a good chance of winning it...they had the momentum, and our kicker couldn't have been all that confident if he had to go out there again. As a Bama fan, I didn't have a warm fuzzy at the thought of going into OT...at the time, I was all for attempting the FG as I didn't like our chances in OT...props to the Auburn coaching staff for putting Davis back there...

How many times have you seen a field goal returned in the last seconds of a rivalry game to go to the conference championship? It was lucky, but you need luck in sports, so it is what it is. A fluke play. I'd be surprised if I saw another one in the next 30 years to that degree.
