Yes a couple posters are bad, but they're an edgy group. They can talk shite and laugh about it at the same time. They have their touchy subjects and we have ours, but this could be a fun banter between two schools that are MILES apart. I like talking with them much more than Missouri fans. I feel Mizzou fans take it too personally, where A&M fans take a shot right back and don't depend on the same drivel every day.

Maybe I'm in the minority. Either way, football is almost here

I think they're goofy and awful. I get second hand embarrassment from their inferiority complex.

Aside from MSU, they're the last team from the West I wanted as a permanent opponent. LSU or Ole Miss would've been perfect.

I don't understand it. Make a snide comment about A&M and half them seem to understand it's a joke and the other half takes it as serious rebuke against the school.

Looks like we are going to have to fight them all IRL and sort them out.

I like a couple of them here and there ... TBird, EKG, solid guys. A couple of others too. But, as a whole, and they've been this way since they got here ... their fan base on the SEC are a bunch of pussy hypocrite lying sacks of shite.

I totally understand now why the tsips have a problem with them ... they are turning-out to be exactly as warned/described.

I can see why the LSU people have been giving them hell ... when the LSU guys don't like you, you're not likable.

I dunno ... B12 pussies, that's the way I see them. They think they're entitled or something ... "we're Texas, we're oil money. We'll do what we want where we want.

frick'em.

Agreed.

Some of those cats are pretty decent, TBird in particular is the kinda guy you share a beer with.

However, there are some seriously arrogant shits- lot of Texas-sized bravado for absolutely no reason.

That said, there's been some pretty enjoyable banter back and forth. I wonder if many of them will stick around if USC does what it ought to and lays waste to 'me in a few weeks.

Seems to be more than a few SECr members who are hoping we mudhole them.

I hope we do.

We're usually not that good in the first game - maybe this will be the year we send a message, I dunno.

I'm glad we open with them here, I'm glad we appear to hold advantages in the trenches. I'm glad their QB is going to be young and inexperienced. I'm glad we're recruiting so well in the secondary as to perhaps have that advantage over them for coming years.

yep

A/M is a school that for 41 seasons (1948-1988) and 9 coaches - including Bryant/Stallings/Sherrill - posted an overall record of 211-215-15.

Slocum was the most successful coach in their modern history and they ran him off after 14 seasons in 2002. he did manage to get them put on probation for 5 seasons (94-98) too.

A/M is 78-60 post-RC.

37-76-5 vs Texas
26-41-3 vs Arkansas
1-0 vs Texas School for the Deaf (seriously)

They're a sensitive lot.. but I'll take them over Mizzou fans any day of the week..

A&M fans are cursed with that Texas bravado but they have no idea what's waiting for them when they come to South Carolina. South Carolinians are a proud and feisty bunch too..

(insert TAMU gay joke here)

That said, I have been to College Station and most of them are pretty cool. As a cross division rival they are probably good for long term rival especially as the new AD is the former AD for Cocks.

Eric Hyman wants to do one thing more than anything ... show-up SCAR. He wants to validate his move to A&M and nothing would justify that more in his eyes than them dominating us in all sports. You can bet on that.

What I do like about the permanent cross-divisional rivalry thing is:

1 - Nothing in this league is permanent when it comes to scheduling.

2 - We need to recruit Texas big time while they are our cross-divisional rivals. We need to take advantage of being in that state, being in their heads, and yank some good players outta there while we have the chance. Get something established. We've already got coaches with connections there and we need to strike while the iron is hot and take our fair share ... as does LSU, Bama and Arkansas, not to mention Oklahoma and others.

Possibly agree but pretty sure Bama vs Vols would be clear sign snow is expected in Hell.

My understanding was the cross rival was football only?

This is the upside but if TX is the real end game then you need to schedule another Big 5 TX school in the off year so you have a game in TX every year. Pretty sure folks in austin will not play along and playing a non Big 5 team probably has diminishing laws of returns as the Big 5 breakaway become more apparent.

So you rotate something like this:
TAMU @ TAMU
TCU @ Dallas (#1 MSA in TX @ 6.5 million)
TAMU @ TAMU
BU @ Houston (#2 MSA in TX @ 6.1 million)
TAMU @ TAMU
TT @ San Antonio (#2 MSA in TX @ 2.1 million)

Pertaining to the fanbase as a whole, they seem like a good bunch. I think we get most of the bad apples on this site though. Of course, this statement is probably true about every team.

FWIW...

A&M fans on this site and A&M fans in person are night and day... We will sit here and talk shite until our fingers bleed but find those same bloody fingers outside of Kyle Field and I guarantee you'll be handed a nice cold beer.

We all do have the Texas mentality and after years of being "lil bro" we have developed a pretty tough skin. Which is why its pretty hard to rustle 95% of the posters on here. We make fun of ourselves just as much as anyone else. Just avoid bonfire and its a pretty safe assumption we will either have a little quip right back at ya or laugh with you.

Don't get me wrong we have some very hostile posters, but also remember a lot of our posters are completely different on every other board but tRant. tRant is for arguing and trolling, because lets be honest no actual legit football discussions take place there.

Scrooster stop hating us so much!!!

Hyman has a LONG way to go before ever endearing himself to A&M.

I personally am not too keen on him so far, but it's early yet.

Some of your members are RA happy ... so I don't believe y'all are really thick-skinned based upon observations.

I have a lot of family in Texas, split about half and half between A&M (my military and rancher side of the family) and UT (my engineering and architect side of the family ... the oil side).

I relate more to the A&M side in terms of football and sports, even though my professional side is more in-tune with the Horns side, and my favorite living Uncle is a Longhorn although he is coming into town to stay with us for the A&M game ... he'll be wearing Gamecock garb I would imagine knowing him.

Hyman is an arse. Y'all will find-out soon enough. It's always all about Hyman - probably one of the most egocentric people I have ever met in my life.

about the only thing I would ever consider RAing is some joke about Bonfire. Outside of that, it's all fair game.

Now I will will give a when due but that's about the limit of my angst on tRant.
