I said this in another thread. Gus will settle into a 9-3 average with one outstanding season every 4-5 years...just like Dye, Bowden, and Tubby

Gus would have to go 1-11 to be considered for firing. He's paid it forward by effectively taking us to two Championship games since 2010.

But my question wasn't about Saban getting fired. It was about Kiffin. We all know he's got some questions behind him.

You are a fricking idiot. Have you considered killing yourself?

Hypothetically of course.

You mean in a thread about Alabama started by an Auburn fan? That seems slightly hypocritical

Sadly, anti, no. I know you're not kidding.

quote:

Gene Chizik was the toast of the Auburn Nation after winning the BCS, and they turned on him and got him gone. So there is precedent. Tubby was safe as long as he could wave those fingers in the Alabama fans face, but when they lost ONE TIME...Tater Tot coaches an undefeated team, then they turned on him in a second. The Barners are notorious bandwagon riders.
Yes, because it's clear that Chizik, Tubs and Bowden all had the program heading in a positive direction, and that those IB losses were just unfortunate aberrations that they should have been allowed to overcome.

But good point about how every HC we've hired has been highly successful and immensely popular, even if only briefly - unlike, say, Perkins, Curry, Dubose, Dennis, or Shula...

quote:

Right now Gus is a hero. Let him lose a couple of games and get beat in Tuscaloosa and we will see what tune they sing then.
Let's see Saban lose a couple of games he shouldn't, then lose to a playoff-bound AU squad in Tuscaloosa and we will see how quickly you start muttering how the game may have passed him by and he needs to start thinking about that house of his on Lake Burton...

Gus is an outstanding coach and will have AU competing for titles on the reg. Saban will do the same for Bama. Many good Iron Bowls to come.

As for Kiffin, I am conflicted. Just a few years us Bama fans laughed at him and such. Now he is one of ours? Feels like I took crazy pills.

He's not going to get fired before the season ends!
Saban will look worse, and that aint happening in Sabanville.

SMH

When he does leave it will be an interesting story, not true, but interesting.

Freep I told you all on the old board that one Tuberville loss to Bama and he was toast, and you all scoffed and poked fun.

Turns out I was dead right. But none of you were around by then you had all scurried back into the ITAT woodwork just like Cockroaches running from Raid, once again like I said you would.

Bandwagon riders that could dish it out but could not take it. Sort of like the old Opponets back on Gridscape when the Viles had their little streak going and they were just partying away, along with you cockroach Aubs. Then Alabama broke the streak, and it wasn't fun anymore. Viles that never posted on that board all of a sudden showed up demanding it be shut down, and the Aubs skittered away at the same time.

I will give the LSU people here credit. They might be crazy and even obnoxious some of the time, but cowards they are not, unlike a certain bunch you were a example of.

That ought to piss him off...

You may be right on the overall point, but don't you find it the least bit ironic that you accuse him of this in a thread started by an aub about an Alabama coach?

people forget Saint Gustophus' offense in 2011 was 104th in the nation - of course his spinmeisters came up with "Chiz held him back"

was Gus helping Chiz run your defense in 2004 when you were undefeated and then helping Chiz run Texas' defense in 2005 when they were national champs?

And bammers are soooo loyal and supportive of their coaches?

Bill Curry (won an SEC title), Mike DuBose (won an SEC title), and Mike Shula say hello.

Mike Price would say hello, but he's busy with Destiny.

There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that we never hear about. In all honesty, and no flames, Kiffin to Alabama was a real shock to me simply because it seemed to come out of nowhere. Usually you can see prior relationships of some kind.

Virtually every SEC team really has something to look forward to this year. For me this is the most fascinating preseason I've ever scene. When you factor in the playoff system.... damn!
