This under the radar diamond is listed on the roster for Ole Miss. He had 10 catches as a senior but looks to be a very promising receiver.

quote:

Ole Miss did not break any NCAA rules in offering Weber a scholarship: schools are free to offer those to any player it deems worthy of one, and Weber is free to take it as long as he is academically eligible. And if offering Tunsil's younger brother was part of the recruiting pitch to Tunsil before he signed in February 2013, it was probably worth it: Tunsil started 11 games as a true freshman, gave up one sack and profiles as one of the best left tackles in college football in 2014.

And you are still mad. Why start a thread on it?

Tunsil is worth two scholarships. Hell, an elite tackle is worth four or five scholarships.

I am curious to hear what people think of "brother" package deals.

Do you think it's worth it to offer a 5* and 2* pair of brothers to secure the 5*?

Don't see any problem w it

If another team is doing it and the player seems worth it, you should've done it too

Meh...schools sell their souls for players all the time....especially for a franchise left tackle.

Depends on the team and the circumstance.

So. Mad.

ETA: dude is wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat. Maybe the Tunsils just don't like anything about Georgia.

Sure. Most walk-ons are just tackling dummies anyway.

It is worth it when the 5 star pans out. Come up empty on a couple of these in consecutive years and you can get into a scholarship numbers crunch.

So, occasionally, it is definitely worth it.

I was giving Hugh Freeze props. He gave a scholly to a kid who has zero chance to play. What part of Ole Miss followed thru on a promise was derogatory?

I doubt he's on scholarship but if he is, good for him. It's well worth it to have a guy like Tunsil if it just means inking his unproven brother.

Hell, does anybody really think Clemson, LSU or Ole Miss were really jonesing after David Kamara? No, but they all knew that's what it would take to get the youngest Nkimdashian.

If we end up signing this five-star hoops player, we will officially be Package Deal U.

I'm sure everyone, including LSU, promised Lanard Fournette a scholly while recruiting Leonard. Do what you have to do to land the big fish.

If we get Skal it'll be worth it. Hell I'd bet Kennedy buys him a custom jumpsuit in celebration.

I disagree, I think he is on scholarship but I don't disagree with the tactic. Hugh Freeze made good on a promise. Now when recruits go to Ole Miss and they make promises you know he will follow his word.

The same thing is being done right now for Jonathan Ledbetter but not for a scholarship but to be accepted as a preferred walk-on. Just goes to show there is a lot more to recruiting than meets the eye.
