They couldn't have committed to any of those places, honestly. No one but UT was actively recruiting them.

They're both 3* guys. Evan could be a good player. Elliot doesn't really have a position at this point.

Evan is a 4 star. They also didn't camp much. Camps impact rankings in a huge way.

Texas a&m will not get sweat. That's all you need to know. Let us fight it out.

Keep A&M out of your mind. It makes it easier.

Dobbs is a question mark, Mccullers is the biggest player in the NFL (on the steelers, who are known for big fat guys like that kicking A@@ ie Casey Hampton), Evan and Elliot berry have an incredible pedigree, you probably couldn't care less beause you had no shot landing them anyway, Croom is a tight end body with the speed and athleticism of a WR (he will impose his will on some 5'10" DBs this season) picou and Butcher are in high school, you have no idea how theyre gonna play out (neither do I).

The point I was trying to get at was that for every one of these guys, I feel like the guy we grabbed at that position instead was/is equal to them or better.

McCullers (who isn't from GA, btw) wasn't offered out of JUCO because we already had John Jenkins (and Atkins in that same class)

Brice Ramsey was better than Dobbs

Jay Rome was a year ahead of Croom and we took Flourney-Smith instead

Paulk was passed over in favor of taking Nick Chubb and Sony Michel

I'm always skeptical of Buford players, especially ones with offer lists like Quay. Also, we already have Young committed, probably flipping Ledbetter, and taking Trent and probably Albert Huggins.

Butcher looks like a solid player, but doesn't fit in our defense and we're frankly after better guys at the position.

As for the Berrys, I'm not a fan, I don't think they're very good. Those do could fuse into one player and still wouldn't have half the talent that Eric has. We took Parrish and Dom Sanders instead.

Clearly neither of us knows how these last few are going to turn out, but I've got a lot more faith in the guys we took than I do in the guys that UT came and got from GA.

Be that as it may, you dont have 324 career tackles with a season left to play unless youre damn good. Overrated, maybe, but still elite.

I'm not saying he is worthless or anything, just that he is not the player his stats make him look like. Rennie Curran piled up tackles as well and Ramik Wilson is doing it currently, but I don't really think either of them were/are as good as the stats and awards make them seem. I wouldn't count him as elite, but I'm very selective with the term. I would say that only the most elite teams in the land, of which there is only a handful every year, have more than 2 or 3 elite players on the entire roster, if even that.

Headcase yes, but dont act like yall didnt want him. It was a battle, and we won. Had 67 receptions, 1060 yds, and 9TDs as a sophomore. And our current WRs are incredible, but Darick could play right there with them. He's an incredible talent, just not exaclty the smartest.

Oh we wanted him for sure, what I'm saying is that I'm glad we lost that recruiting battle. Tons of talent, but never approach using even half of it.

the old staff that's still mostly there?

No, Grantham and Lakatos would have been the ones evaluating and making the call on whether or not to offer. Perhaps the secondary GA too, but all three of them have moved on.

Just how "Tennessee" do you have to be to be a real fan?

Cameron Sutton was All-Freshman SEC and is a ballhawk. Rihayd has a legit chance of starting this year. Theyre better than 90% of your DBs.

I like Sutton and Jones a lot, we should have gone after both but it goes back to my definition of elite, and neither of them are. I wouldn't count any of our DBs as that either, though a couple have the potential. I think Swann, even with a bad year last year, is better than both of them, but other than that, you're basically saying that these guys are better than Quincy Mauger and a bunch of walk-ons as everyone else is a freshman or was injured last year. I can't disagree with that, but I do think we've at least two coming in that will be better than Jones and Sutton.

Yup. Sucks because Juwuan especially would have been a huge help for us the last few years.
