Outside of finding this snippet from the buffalo chip anybody have any news on player conditioning? LINK

Georgia hasn’t gone into great detail about it just yet, but the Bulldogs pretty much retooled their strength and conditioning workout routine this summer. Coach Mark Richt said part of it was to address the avalanche of injuries the team encountered last season and part of it was to adjust to the increasingly fast pace at which college football is being played.

I would imagine that a lot of it has to do with JP...

I obviously don't know all the details, but basically they tried to cut everybody's weight, especially on defense. I assume the did a lot more running and more high-rep lifting for that purpose and to help with endurance.
I heard they did some new flexibility and joint strength stuff in an attempt to help with injury issues.

Yeah, with the pace that a lot of offenses are speeding up to, a 350 pound nose tackle in the 3-4 might soon be a thing of the past. Good riddance too, you almost feel bad for those guys because carrying that much weight for an extended time will likely significantly shorten their lifespan.

Ramik Wilson said most linemen and defensive players were cutting like 10-20 pounds in an interview I'm guessing on sec media day

Wait, I thought you couldn't train to help prevent injuries. Seems like a waste of time, right?

I read an article awhile back that talked about the new stuff they were trying. I can't remember the company that they are working with, but it's a sports science group that specializes in injury prevention and flexibility.

Article basically talked about plyometrics and calisthenics help joint flexibility which can reduce injuries. Not including when you get a helmet through your knee

If it was the same article that I read it sounded like some pretty advanced stuff.

Surprised Eddie? If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.

CMR also mentioned working out to better simulate game conditions. They reviewed film, specifically Auburn, and timed how long each play took and how long the players had between each play. They designed exercies for maximum exertion to equal the amount of time for each play and they rested the amount of time equal to the time off between plays in a game.
Pretty much common sense but definitely thinking out of the box.

I disagree. A big guy like Mayes with a 7 1/2 foot wingspan that a center can't block by himself is like having 12 defensive players on the field. The only wrinkle that a hunh offense brings is the cramp factor on a guy that big, but with better conditioning and some depth that gets deliberately rotated before a guy gets too winded, actual planned deliberate rotation, the opponent's offensive line gets winded before your nose tackle does. Chris Mayes up in your face like a rapist all day can demoralize a center pretty quick. When the center starts making mistakes, the whole shithouse goes up in flames.
I like the 3-4 against the hunh.

I'm pretty sure getting beaten in a sport that a person is voluntarily playing and getting raped are 2 entirely different things.
That is a very poor simile.

Which is fine, except the defense can't sub unless the offense does. And the offense won't sub if they have the defense on it's heels. Those offensive linemen run the HUNH in practice every week. Pro-style teams likes UGA only see it a few times a year. Your point is void.

We were repeatedly assured of this, in fact.
