I'd be fine with 8-4 tbh.
Disappointment.

Lowest 6-6, Highest 10-2. Say 8-4.

6-6 and if they get some breaks 8-4 max.
They go 8-4, 4-4 in SEC. Losses to AUB, LSU, ALA, OM

The only drop back quarterback that really worked for Mullen was Alex Smith.
Even Alex Smith is basically a dual threat. He's definitely pass first -- but he will torch your soul with his legs if you don't account for them(even in the NFL). Smith ran for 631 and 10 TDs his last year at Utah -- about what Relf did at MSU in his best year(2010) in terms of yards -- with more rush TDs than Relf had for his entire career.
I think Mullen just needs a threat to run at the QB position to make the system operate smoothly, preferably enough of a threat to force a LB spy.

No. Who was the coach when MSU won the National Championship? His name slips my mind...
