Honestly, I wouldn't say the offense did really well in 2009. It was average at best.
Only two offenses scored 21 points on Alabama that year. One was undefeated at the time and the other had 4 losses. Which team do you think was more talented and which team had better coaching?

I've already said Malzahn was a good coach. I was more of just pointing out how y'all weren't exactly being truthful with your facts particularly by not mentioning the fact that his offense did not score in 2011.

Well, you're also not mentioning that AU wasn't alone in that regard that season. As a matter of fact, I seem to recall Bama shutting out their very next opponent.

Besides, isn't it the general opinion of most Tidesters that the 2011 Bama defense was Saban's finest ever, and one of the greatest in SEC history? Seems to me being shut out under such circumstances isn't necessarilly an indictment of Gustav's coaching prowess, especially given his relative success against Saban in other years.

But the offense that put up 0 points was coming off a national championship.
The same offense that was missing Cam Newton, Mario Fannin, Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, Kodi Burns, Mike Berry, Byron Isom, Ryan Pugh, Lee Ziemba and Eric Smith?

Did you see what we had to replace them with?

Joey tarded out and took a post about Gus under Chizik personally. He averaged 16 a game and went 1-2 under the Chiz. Period.

All that list shows is he moves on from every job quickly before the shite hits the fan.

That's just it. People don't know if he'll be a good Head Coach over a longer period of time than a year. How will he do in a 5 year stretch in the SEC at the same school in the same position? Reasonable question.

16th in ypg, 17th in points per game.

He is entering year 5 at AU with a 10 month break in there...I'd say he is doing just fine.

Hodor!

Right, but we all agree LSU's offense was terrible that year.

I must have missed the part where it was required to be a member to view this board. Apologies.

I would have thought that actually witnessing the way auburn fans acted around here in 2011 would have been a requirement, but then again talking out of your arse about auburn is more the norm, less the exception for you.

Obvious exception to the rule.

21, 28, 0, 28...there are always outliers.

Sumlin has been more successful against Saban than Malzahn has.

I think he's a good coach. Clearly he's been a success on the field. He says the right things and appears to be a great recruiter. I think you guys really have something, with Gus.
