I will be traveling down to Atlanta in a couple weeks to help my sister and her cousin settle in at Emory. We (cousin's older brother) plan on driving down there getting them unpacked & settled and then spending a few days down there in a hotel enjoying time away from the wives & kids.

What are some fun spots to hit up for entertainment (no baseball, as we go to plenty of Cardinal games)? Also, must-go's for restaurants in the general vicinity of the school?

We plan on getting a room not too far from the school, so it would help if we didn't need to drive for an hour to do whatever, unless it was truly worth it.

I'm in my early 30s, he is in his late 20s.

No place to stay yet we were going to get a room after we get there.

Alright, hit up Virginia highland and Decatur for chill spots, little five for people watching, and if y'all are feeling like a club over to midtown.

How many nights and days do you need stuff to do?

Budgets for restaurants?

Thanks the suggestions.

No real budget, but I don't need a romantic place to eat our anything. We haven't settled on a time, but at least a few days. I'm treating this as a much needed vacation from my two toddlers.

I kinda fell into this at the last moment since our parents can't take her as something came up at my dad's work.

I always recommend Decatur, walk around, bar hop, and find a restaurant that you like. I guarantee you will have a good time. Highlands to a lesser degree, its not as much, a little more spread out(you might want to drive) but still good. Little five is the counter culture area but fun.

Midtown is the club environment.

Any type of cuisine that you particular like?

I like just about everything. Is there a cuisine our special dish Atlanta is known for?

No, not at all. Atlanta is a melting pot. You will have some southern stuff or fusion.

Do you like craft beers?

Yes. I'm really more of a bourbon drinker, but enjoy a good stout.

I live near Emory.

I'd suggest heading to downtown Decatur. Tons of good restaurants. You really can't go wrong with just about any restaurant downtown on the square. Lots of good craft beer and good food.
