At the age of 18 he's not a kid anymore. He's making a conscious decision to be a frat boy, hence a douche. Which is most likely a tell of poor parenting. Fair game.

A mentally handicapped child and parent did not have a say in the matter and thus is off limits.

There arent any words that offend me. I dont use some words out of respect for the sensibilities of others, but I personally find the concept of offensive words laughable and childish. Words have only the power you give them, so anyone who is offended by them is doing so willfully whether they realize it or not. There is no such thing as an inherently offensive or damaging word.

I guess it's not so much the word that would offend me. If somone called my autistic son a tard or retard then there would be some negative intentions there. That's why I would throw down.

So using the word, retard, when it accurately describes someone is the only time it offends you?

Look up the dictionary definition of retard. A mentally handicapped person = retarded.

according to dictionary.com it is often offensive to use it to describe someone that is mentally handicapped. Sooo maybe you should've looked in the dictionary prior to posting

Thats not the politically correct way to put that, but, we have a grand son who had speech related issues related to a hearing birth defect. Otherwise perfectly normal. When first put into public school special education as a kindergartener, he was put in with some profoundly disabled kids. As a little guy, this didnt really matter and I actually think it was good for him. he is now in regular first grade, but still, I can understand the sentiment.

Can't say 'retard' or "M.R." in Houston schools anymore, because the word is taken to mean exactly what it actually means. The new term is "Intellectually Disabled" or "I.D.", at least until that moves into the general lexicon and is taken to mean exactly what it actually means.

Wait....what?
