According to Tuscaloosa police, Reed had a blood alcohol content of 0.13 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08.
Reed was driving a 2001 White Dodge Charger, according to a TPD news release, when an officer saw him collide with another vehicle at 1:50 a.m. while backing out of a parking spot. Reed attempted to exit the parking lot, but the officer stopped him, the TPD release stated.

Stupid decision. Are we going to have some countdown to kickoff in the form of an arrest every week? This is fricking ridiculous.

And then some sunshine pumper "insiders" will talk about how this team is more focused than last year. Bull shite.

Every off-season all the talk is about how focused the team is and how hard everyone is working. Heard it last summer too. Then after the disappointing season end, we start hearing about all these issues that were supposedly present all along.

That's why I take all the talk with a grain of salt.

The link now says 2011 Charger. They must've corrected it but for some reason there's no correction notation

What is so frustrating is that they never seem to learn from mistakes others have made. Its like the throw caution to the wind every chance they get. There are at least about 10 sober girls that you could get to drive you home. I use to witness girls asking former players to drive them home

Time for Saban to send message to players

quote:

But Jarran Reed's subsequent arrest this weekend for suspicion of driving under the influence has finally moved the needle. We’ve hit the proverbial “three strikes and you’re out” phase of this annual offseason game we play in major college football where one arrest leads to another and suddenly we start to see a trend. Next we question the health of the program as a whole and wonder aloud whether the coach truly has a handle on things.

Now, it must be said that Saban deserves the benefit of the doubt in such matters. We’ve never had to wonder whether discipline is a part of his process. But even he isn’t immune to the arrest bug. Even he can’t avoid the increasing sound of police sirens at his program’s doorstep.

Now is the time for Saban to step up and deliver a message.

Now is the time to right the course and get his team's full attention.

Fall camp begins in only a few weeks. The start of the season is less than two months away. Alabama has enough questions on the field; the Tide don't need negative attention off it. There’s a new quarterback to break in, two new offensive linemen and a defense that would be described as “rebuilding” if it were any place other than Alabama. If the Crimson Tide want to return to the national championship picture, they can’t afford another issue to tackle.

Drake, Tenpenny and Reed are all in Saban’s doghouse now. So is linebacker Dillon Lee, who was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in April. If this keeps up, there won’t be enough room to hold all the team’s disciplinary problems.

Eventually you have to say enough is enough and put a bar on that doghouse door. Eventually you have to show that once you go in, you might not be allowed out so easily.

That time is now for Saban and Alabama. Leniency can no longer be afforded. Decisive, heavy-handed action is needed. The season is almost here, and every player and every coach must get the message loud and clear that mistakes will no longer be tolerated.

If I'm Saban, it's time to establish a complete 0 tolerance for this shite. No matter who the player is, one slip up and they're out. We're trying to win titles, nothing less. Can't have distractions.

I think that guy is a moron. It's a first time dui. After 6 months probation he won't even have the charge anymore. And the Drake incident shouldn't even be considered a problem. Or the Tony Brown arrest. Neither of those guys deserved to be arrested.

If this was a second or third DUI or if he'd had drinking problems in the past then my opinion would be different.

Drake definitely didn't deserve to be arrested. He should be allowed to obstruct a crime scene where a shooting happened.

A zero tolerance policy will not be a fix. These players are already coming into a program none are prepared for even a JUCO transfer. The expectations are very high and stupid will just be stupid sometimes.

For the ones talking about team has lack of focus step back from the cliff. Every year UA seems to have issues with certain players who seem to get frustrated because they are falling behind the curve. Drake has Henry passing him and Reed for all the hype coming in does not seem to be passed the 2nd string for reps. All of these stories seem to be evolving around players who are struggling. And just because their focus is not there does not mean the team and the players we will see starting or making an impact are not.

And for the ones upset about a DUI or some stupid arrest, where were they when Pettway was let back on the team. Sorry what he did may the worst of any I have seen under Saban and he is back.

I was a vocal opponent to letting Pettaway back on the team. He doesn't deserve it.

As far as Reed goes, he will be suspended, and I hope it goes through the Florida game. Realistically, he will get a similar punishment to what Geno Smith got which was two games.

Troof. One time, my uncle got shot while getting mugged. At the scene, there was this guy kicking a bunch of shite around and bugging the cops and shite. They told him to leave or he would be arrested because he was keeping them from accomplishing their missions as fascist pigs. But I was like "No way man. It's we the people and this is America bro. This dude can do what he wants. My grandpa didn't ride shotgun in dive bomber shooting japs just so we can get told what do by the man." Then I looked down and both the stranger and I had the hugest freedom boners. Then we high dived and shot into space and became star people.

My uncle died from his injuries. They police never found his killer.

85 scholarship'd players, 3 arrests. 2 dui, 1 whatever charge.

yep, throw in the towel. drop the hammer, run 'em off. set a zero tolerance policy and become like grade schools kicking kids out over the least lil thing, boy that'd show 'em. show 'em where not to go play ball.

i suspect saban will handle this s he has previously. not his first rodeo with this.

It's almost like they're kids or something.

Not condoning or excusing, but it's not like stupidity/bad judgment is an uncommon trait with kids that age. No use getting frustrated over it.
