Got fired from my waiter job a few months back (frick you Red Lobster), dropped out of college and I'm back living with muh parents. Also just spent my last bit of money on various drugs. I don't think I can join the military because I'm taking a low dose of meds.
Is there any hope for me?

What meds? I would imagine you could get a waiver if its prescribed ...

The fact that you got shite canned as a bus boy @ red lopsta is more troubling I think

Klonopin is prescribed. Also I started out as a busboy then moved up to a server. New management fired almost all of the old staff an hired their own.

Take a little time and figure out what you're really interested in and then bust your arse.. Don't get down on yourself, just figure out what you want and then go for it. You can't give up.

Have you looked into a vocational school? They're often easier to swing than college and offer better careers. If you don't want to get back into the classroom just yet then absolutely try to find another job, it can be a low paying shite job but working in any capacity will make you happier and set you up better for the future.

I don't know what's going on with you and your meds but if you can work then do. If you can't find a job then at the very least volunteer it will get you out of the house and maybe get your foot in the door somewhere.

Is there hope for you? Absolutely.

Everyone goes through bad times, everyone. It will end eventually and things will turn around but for that to happen you've got to adjust your mindset and not beat yourself up. Things suck right now and you may not feel great about yourself or your prospects but it won't always be that way and you can change it.

Accept who you are and where you are and don't obsess or torment yourself over it, come up with a plan put your head down and drive forward. You'll be ok man.

Gcockboi may not be my favorite poster but can we try not to be dicks when someone posts a legitimate life problem? We have plenty of other opportunities to act like fools.

get off dope and learn a trade. Machinist, welder, HVAC, carpentry, plumber, etc.

It'll be hard work, but you will profit if you apply yourself.

or

vote democrat and live off someone else's paycheck

actually in high school we had vocational classes and I took welding for 3 years. But that was 5 years ago, so I haven't even touched a welder or cutting torch in 5 years.

Yes.
Beat whatever holds you down, but don't ever question hope.....It's what keeps most of us going.

Go speak with a recruiter. Be up front with them on your condition and see if it's even an issue. If it is, ask about getting a waiver.

I've been where you're at, joined the military, got some structure and changed my life. Now I'm married and have been fortunate enough to be successful. By my standards at least. So can you.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and be proactive and productive in turning it around. I come from a huge family full of drug attics, murderers(multiple) and people with a completely wrong outlook on life. Trust me, it can be done. The people you surround yourself with will play a huge role in how much success you have. Cut off the loose ends and move on. Get off the drugs and set goals. At the end of the day you have to look yourself in the mirror and answer for where you're going and what you've done. It's easier with a clear conscience.

Look up Dr. Wayne Dyer and buy his audio cd The Power of Intention. It was huge in my turn around 5 years ago. Hopefully it can be in yours as well.

Good luck

Any current meds will be an issue. I looked up that drug he is taking and for a recruiter there will be a lot of questions that will follow of why.

Just finished my 3 years of recruiting and honestly I never frauded any medical issues, but hey applicants and other recruiters do it all the time. If you really wanted to enlist and or this was a last option (which military shouldn't be a last option thing) get off of the drugs for 90 days, see how you're doing and go talk to a recruiter. You will have to not bring this medical condition or drug usage up because like I said more questions will come and you will be disqualified.

Good luck though! If you have anymore enlistment questions let me know.

Which branch? Surely Army and Navy will be more lenient than USMC and USAF.

I won't pretend to act like I can answer your problems for you, but I will drop a saying that was taught to me by my Stepdad who was a former drill instructor for the Marines.

"whether you think you can or you can't.... you're right"

Let that seep into your subconscious for a bit while you search for your path, but keep in mind that what you have done thus far in your life you are obviously not happy with.
