The pressure from SEC fans is obviously working, and they seem close to caving:

LINK

"We're in the middle of productive discussions with Disney over ESPN's new SEC Network and hope to be able to provide it as soon as we possibly can," the undated statement reads. "Both DirecTV and Disney understand and appreciate the unique bond between SEC teams and the communities they represent, many of which lack any professional teams. We are working cooperatively to ensure that everyone can still see their favorite SEC team play at the most reasonable value to all SEC fans and the rest of our customers throughout the Southeast."

Sounds to me like they're positioning themselves to eventually say, "We tried to offer the SEC Network to fans on an a la carte basis, but Disney/ESPN wouldn't let us."

As long as Directv brings me my Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings, IDGAF about the SEC Network.

I've heard that DirecTV offers free stuff like Sunday Ticket and monthly discounts if you threaten to leave. My luck would be that they would tell me to frick off too

Supposably, if you believe Clay Travis, they are nearly on board

I mean I would rather have it than not, but Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings are both much more important to me.

I said the same thing initially. But Dish has come a long way. Best equipment out there. Check out Hopper. It allows you to watch LIVE shows on your mobile device. Can't do that with DTV.

Supposably?

Hoping Clay Travis is right.
I love DirecTV--certainly won't drop em.
I've zero doubt DTV will pick up the SECN; just hoping it's this season, rather than next.

This was their reply that I got within seconds of sending them an email.

Subject sec network Administrator We strongly believe every SEC fan should have access to the SEC Network on DIRECTV and customers can rest assured that is our goal as we continue our discussions with the owners of the channel. Contract talks happen on a different timetable with each TV provider, so unlike our competitor, we have really just begun our discussions and hope to have an update on status as we move closer to the network's launch in August.
