Watch a star explode over the course of 4 yrs, courtesy of the Hubble telescope

It was a red star, about 20k light years away from our sun.

We've got about 500 million years before our sun will make it too uncomfortable to live on earth. We've got time to head off into the universe if we don't eliminate ourselves first, that is.
