Dallas, What do you think of this dirt course that they are playing the U.S. Open on?

Beat me to it

They changed the course to the way it was when first designed but more important to note is the USGA president says this is a new way they're thinking of approaching golf maintenance. By doing less maintenance. Less watering, making conditions more raw and (he says) more fun. I played on stuff like that in other countries and similarly on Kiawah but it was in real windy conditions. I'd like to give it a shot.

Yes I know I'm not Dallas but I was going to post something like this anyway

I was there for a while yesterday, and it's a disaster, imo. The greens are beautiful, and the course looks great on TV, but the place looks like total shite up close. Which, of course, is WHAT THEY WANTED!!!!!

WHich is exactly my problem with it. It's too contrived. It's too deliberate. It's fricking phony, man. These fiends have all the money in the world, and they're only watering the center of the fairways??!!????

It's like people who spend $1,000 dollars on a pair of gay blue-jeans that have been beat up and ripped and faded to look like they've already been worn for ten years.

It's a poser fest. And I'm still digging out brown dirt and sand boogers from my nostrils from spending most of the day on that dirt track.

I'm not exaggerating. Picture the shitty municipal course near you that costs $10 bucks for 18. $15 with a cart. And that's what Pinehurst is now (except for the greens).

Dawg report from U.S. Open: Brendon Todd in solo second at -4 (6 shots back)

Kirk (-1) and Compton (E) also in the top 15. English (+4) and Henley (+4) look like they'll make the cut...

Bubba (+6), Swafford (+6) and Kisner (+12) headed home.

Perspective:

Erik Compton is tied for 2nd in the US Open…..and with a Kaymer melt-down could possibly win.

Didn’t even know that Compton was UGA. Knew the story about two heart transplants, but didn’t know that he had entered a tube and was shot out of the Georgia Pipeline at high velocity……….

Two heart transplants later. Wow.

Think of the sports story here if he somehow wins....There will be movies made........

Two men die unexpectedly in their prime……….and their hearts are transplanted into the chest of another human………….and now, instead of Compton worrying about if he’s going to see his family ever again…….he’s “worrying” about winning a national championship……..

fricking Beautiful..........

Exciting times……………

Didnt realize Compton was a dawg. Really don't mind Kaymer but I really hope he drops a few just so I can sit down and watch an exciting back 9. Too many majors recently have been basically over by the turn on Sunday
