Situation is a better word. No scandal at all.

This isn't even a slap on the wrist. I would classify that as a stern look. I bet a lot of schools do this which such weak punishment.

I think it all depends on whether this was just a 'bump' in which case Joker shouldn't have resigned because that's minor or if this was straight up recruiting during the dead period which can be considered a major violation. I just can't bring myself to believe that Joker resigned over a bump. He's well liked and that's a minor secondary infraction.

Consider this too: although Leak was of course a good QB, he has no coaching experience - he's been a GA. Trying to jump start UF's O with a new OC and new offensive system, you don't want to be forced to hire your GA in JUNE no matter how smart or good he is. IOW, Muschamp would likely have kept Joker on if he thought this were just a 'bump.'

He is probably too young to know what you are talking about.

To put this in perspective, Joker was involved in a bump violation during his time at UK, when he accidentally sent a text message to a recruit during a dead period when trying to reply to a text from a friend.

Basically there wasn't even a slap on the wrist. Certainly nothing to resign over.

Joker Phillips did not resign over what amounts to a secondary and minor violation.

The photograph (if it exists) will probably make this a major violation. A sit-down meal with a recruit will be considered an "arranged" meeting and demonstrate a purposeful violation of the rules.

Given that Joker was just popped as UK's HC in 2012 for a 'bump' violation, I think this may be pretty bad for Joker. I don't think it has much effect on Florida, though.

Unless this is just the tip of Florida's dirty recruiting and Joker drops a dime. In which case he'll go from being a Kentucky zero to a Kentucky hero overnight.

If you read between the lines it wasn't WM's call. That's not good.

No insight with this situation,... But I'm certain there is an expectation to self report these types of incidents. The perception of self reporting is that there isn't a lack of control. If Foley finds out about a "bump" violation from Yahoo!, I think it's clear why he was asked to "resign". It makes Joker look sneaky and Foley/Muschamp appear clueless.

Again, no idea if a recruit ran into Joker at Moe's and slipped into his booth, or if Joker was treating someone to a lobster dinner. But, i think things would be different had this been self reported.

One of the talking heads on The Mother Ship said that he had talked to several HC's around the country & all considered this to be a major violation & one that they would have all reported to the NCAA. Wining & dining a recruit during the dead period is a huge no no according to his sources. It was reported by the UM according to his other sources.
