Can't be mad if you're a UF fan, he stayed longer than just about everyone thought he would.

This isn't the first time he has made such comments after Orlando. He has never denied interest in coaching in the NBA and there are a lot of good jobs available. It has always been my assumption that he would probably go to the NBA when Foley decides to retire or his kids are all grown. I don't expect it to happen, but it would exactly shock me if it did.

IF he were to go, I would assume Shaka Smart is the first call.

I don't think he had much of a choice after what he pulled with the Magic.

It is interesting that he came out with it right now though. He would've been better off not saying anything at all, since he's probably just put some unnecessary heat on himself in the media and likely on the recruiting trail.

He didn't come out with it, he keeps getting asked the question. There have been many reports of different NBA teams contacting him.

The article leaves out a pretty significant part of the quote:
quote:

“I think when you start making guarantees about life, about where you’re going to be, that’s not good because if for some reason I ever change my mind and did something, I wouldn’t want (people) saying, ‘Well, he promised, he guaranteed,” Donovan said. “I think when you start doing that, that’s a mistake. All I can say is I love Florida.

“I’m happy here, Jeremy (Foley) has been great, the school has been great to me.”

“Some of the NBA stuff, as I’ve said before, is intriguing in a lot of ways — the basketball part of it,” he said. “That’s not to say I’m unhappy here. That’s not the case at all.

Sweetheart, you don't even come close to "owning" the SEC. Are you currently a top team? Sure. But you definitely don't own it.

Gotta respect Donovan for what he has done at UF and for not guaranteeing something he obviously does not feel comfortable guaranteeing.

The man has done a helluva job at UF.

So... BD says I respect them too much so I'm not gonna lie to the UF fans like so many other coaches have done, & you tout that as a bad thing?...

UF basketball is garbage without Donovan. Donovan makes UF basketball, not the other way around.

No, I agree with the Bama fans that Anthony Grant should be the call.

Pretty much every school in college basketball is behind UK, no shame in that.
