So I think someone searched through my car last night.

Got into my car this morning and the door was already open a little, the glove box was open, and my trunk was popped.
I didn't notice anything missing from my car and I don't really keep anything of value in there. Should I do anything? I didn't do anything about it today because I was to busy. I've heard of this happening quite often in the neighborhood (it's a college neighborhood so not unusual).

Well I didn't actually see him so I don't "know" but it's a reasonable assumption with everything being open.

Just be glad they didn't break your windows. I was mountain biking at Tuskeegee National Forrest once and someone broke two windows in my truck to get a PoS $20 portable CD player and... I had one of those pull out tape players where you could remove the whole unit and leave the cage with all of the wire hookups in the car (guess that was considered anti theft at the time) and they just took the slid out the unit leaving the cage in the truck making it worthless for both of us. $400 in windows for a worthless tape deck and $20 CD player. I was mostly pissed about the windows. I had one of the CDs to a Jimym Buffet box set in the portable CD players. Losing one CD to a box set was the second thing that pissed me off.

You should bait them to enter your car again and be holed up in there with a tarp and a gun. Make sure you are recording it all though, so you can explain your side of the story to the police 24 hours later when you call them.

I keep my car unlocked and have had it rifled through a couple of times before. I don't keep any valuables in there so I'm not concerned.
Sometimes I hope it gets stolen so I can have an excuse to get a new one. I haven't resorted to leaving my keys in there yet, though.

I fish a lot of remote streams. I always leave my truck unlocked so no crackhead will break out a windows only to learn there's nothing in it to steal.

My car is 11 years old. I don't keep a GPS in it. I haven't put in any sort of stereo system. I don't keep money, jewelry, or even CDs in my car. My glove compartment has an owners manual and a small flashlight. My trunk has a spare tire, a jack, and an old blanket.

I'm not adjusting the way I live and work in my vehicle just because some degenerate might steal my shite. That's what insurance is for.
And I have a gun(s) along with the other valuables in case they want to try while I'm still aboard.

When I drove a crappy car and lived in a bad area I always left the doors unlocked. It would get tossed looking for valuables about once a month, but at least they quit breaking my windows out to find out that there's nothing inside. Car had a stick too so the people who got in probably didn't know how to drive it even if they wanted to steal it.
