3* Kevin Punter - A 6'4 170 lb. SG from the Bronx made it official this morning. Giving Tyndal his second known commit for the 2014 class.

Chiles is a fifth-year transfer from IUPUI and a solid, versatile guard, while Owens is a big man from Maryland who initially signed with Ohio but then had a late growth spurt, went from 6-7 to nearly 6-10 and suddenly became a much, much more intriguing prospect. The Vols have a very good chance to land Owens, according to a couple of college basketball sources.
Tennessee also is in play for Florida Gulf Coast transfer Eric McKnight — a 6-9 forward with one season of eligibility remaining — and a couple of other Division I transfers, including some who we believe haven’t been mentioned anywhere in the media. Tyndall is a grinder on the recruiting trail and has plenty of connections, and we think the Vols are going to continue to emerge on the lists of several transfers.

Kevin Punter gets a slight bump up in his ranking. Going from an 85 3* to a 88 3* and the 20th overall player coming out of JUCO this year.

I think our names being mentioned, but I'm not sure there's much more traction than that. Still, it's nice that upper echelon guys are hearing from the new staff. Hoping Owens goes ahead and pulls the trigger soon.

Big news on Mostella and his academic concerns

That would be huge news, if that’s indeed the case. Mostella is a very, very exciting prospect. He’s one of the more intriguing backcourt players in that class. He’s not a pure point guard, and he’s not a pure shooting guard. He’s certainly a combo guard, and he’s very athletic — the kind of athlete whose dunks are often SportsCenter Top 10-quality — and can score in several ways.

I would speculate that NC State and Memphis are probably going to emerge as the competition.
Vols are in a good spot there and adding a juco pg in this class is probably a nice fit for the staff.
