Spurrier didn't really rag us under Dooley or Kiffin. It's kind of funny but he usually does it most when he actually gets along with and/or respects UT's coach and we're trending up.

If you're from E. TN, especially N. East, TN the logic behind that makes since. Spurrier is definitely an E. Tn boy.

I believe he has a higher % against Georgia, Vandy, and Kentucky if I am not mistaken along with a few others.

Saban takes shot at Spurrier last night in Charlotte -

“We thought he was the best player in the country when he was a senior in high school and had lots of opportunities to watch him play and certainly feel like he’s one of the best players in the country,” Saban said. “I feel like he’ll be a great professional player. Coach (Steve) Spurrier has done a great job at South Carolina and they’ve had a great success there. I’d like to see somebody in our league be in the first pick in the draft, and I think he has a great opportunity to do that.”

You are mistaken. If you thought for a moment that anybody is including Spurrier's Florida days, you are wrong.

lol no. Spurrier has no problem making fun of Tennessee with or without Fulmer. It's not from a place of respect. He made a jab at Tenn this week. And he hated Kiffin.
quote:

“Golly, times have changed when Tennessee doesn’t want to play North Carolina in football because they’re too good for them. That’s kind of amazing right there. We’re not going to bail out from playing North Carolina the way Tennessee did.”
quote:

How did South Carolina beat Tennessee? “The same way Vanderbilt did.”

I like when Coach Saban says something nice about another coach. It puts him to a higher level, and shows that he doesn't have to put down another coach to make himself look better. It also makes him look like an adult, and Coach Spurrier really should learn this, and quit coming off as being so childish.

1) Spurrier didn't put a coach down on DP, it was more a jab at UT in general.
2) Spurrier has said Saban is the best coach in the SEC, but no one payed attention to it because he said winning at 'Bama is too easy. If I were a 'Bama fan I'd take that as some damn high praise.
3) Spurrier grew up at UT fan, the jab he took at them before the game last season he mentioned going to a Vol game as a kid. I don't think he has any real malicious towards a lot of people or teams, he just has some fun and doesn't sugar coat a whole lot.

100% this. He always delivers the zingers with a smile. When he's serious, it's just brutal honesty.
