When did clothing manufacturers decide to abandon traditional sizing guidelines?

Full disclosure, I'm around 5'11" and weigh 165 pounds. For almost my entire adult life I have worn a size Medium in t-shirts, polos, button up shirts, jackets and pullovers.
Lately I've noticed that the arm length of polos is about half of what it used to be. I've also noticed that overall shirt length has been shortened in almost every category.
And I'm not talking cheap Walmart shite either. Polo Ralph Lauren is the main damn perpetrator of this movement.
What the hell is going on here? Does anyone else notice this?

This is why everyone makes fun of people that do wear them. Because the makers are turning them insanely gay.

You know Polo has different fits, right?

I'm roughly your same size and I haven't noticed this.
I prefer slimmer fitting shirts, though. I don't like for the sleeves to hang loose.

Definitely noticed the arm length thing on short sleeve polos
Good news is I'll probably never wear one again as i love PFGs and if the situation calls for something nicer than that a short sleeve polo isn't appropriate anyways

There's nothing wrong with Ralph Lauren.

If you want consistent sizing there is....
4 pairs of RL shorts ranging from 30-33 and they all fit the same.

Oh. I thought you were being your usual snooty self and looking down on them for other reasons.

Their T-Shirts are extremely small. Their collared shirts usually fit normally.

Those bear shirts are hideous. The larger polo horses aren't much better. I only buy the small logo shirts.

Buy southern tide instead. They fit me better anyway

The huge Polo horses are horrible.

I've noticed it. I have to wear an XL now because my shoulders are so broad a Large won't even reach to my pants line anymore.

I need to get at least one southern tide shirt, all I've ever had is a pullover but it was badass

the big horse polos are terrible

I've had this problem ever since I plateaued at 6'4" as a teenager. Every adult shirt was at least an inch too short in the sleeves or total length.
The world is made for people around 5'11" - airplanes, desks, theaters, clothes...I'm just glad shorter people have to deal with this shite too now.

Their polos are the best I've worn. You won't regret it
