I don't think you get around all of Madison County very much.Take into consideration,most of North Huntsville, from Governor's Drive, north, all the way to Winchester Road,is almost all Black.You also have communities like, Harvest,Toney,Triana and others that are almost all black.
Most other communities are pretty mixed, with white,black,Asian, Latino, etc..
Not saying that that African Americans are a majority, but probably the single largest population group there.

You want to know something funny? A large part of that purple area in Alabama is a congressional district....

I wonder if they group Indians in as Asians.

Our density of black people is so high because in large part when slavery ended they were too poor to leave.

That's also why our state is one of the poorest and most uneducated. Not because of black people, I mean, but because the populus that stayed behind (whites, blacks, whatever) after emancipation were the ones too poor to move. Most people with money and sense cut and ran. There was nothing keeping them here.

That's just a theory. I probably shouldn't have stated it so definitively, but I'm on my phone and don't feel like editing it.
