Rapid City is actually a legit town. Got my Hog gear on and I'm talking football with the locals.

Black Hills are nice

Are you planning on going anywhere else in the Dakotas? If so, I'd advise you against that

There is no diversity. It's either native Americans or white people. Very different feel than anywhere I've ever been.

We're doing all the touristy stuff tomorrow, then heading to the Lakota reservation on Friday where my fiancée's sister works.

Ok. I only asked cause I have family from SD and a couple in ND. I like the area you're in. Very neat area of the country.

Can you do me a favor and drive across the border to Newcastle, Wyoming and say hi to my mom. That would be great. I don't forsee me getting up there anytime soon to see her and she isn't happy about it.

My fiancée's sister works on an Indian reservation up here and we are visiting her for a few days.

Definitely, cool landscapes with the Black Hills all around.

I didn't believe the Dakotas really existed, just a government scam...

Is it cold? Do they sound like Fargo people? Are they enamored with your (presumed somewhat) southern accent?

Custer State Park is awesome. My parents used to do a stint as Campground Hosts in the summers there after they retired.

Watch out for the Buffaloes. Those bastards can get mean.

It was really cold yesterday and snowed a little bit but it didn't stick. They said the weather has been crazy with the polar vortex this year.

They sound somewhat like Fargo people but it's not that strong. You can definitely notice it though.

I don't really have a southern accent but they wanted to hear all about Arkansas and they were really interested in the SEC.

Worst part though? They don't know how to pronounce Arkansas. Unfortunately they say it Ar-Kansas which was a little infuriating.

She is pissed, might want to call her.

Is your fiancées sister single? Is she Native American? Does it feel like the air is cleaner there? Have you eaten breakfast yet?

I haven't seen carpet installed since HS, seems everyone goes with hard wood flooring and an occasional welcome mat.

No she's from Fayetteville, works for AmeriCorps.

There is no humidity, very dry. I woke up and had to drink a ton of water.

Having a bagel and a snicker doodle latte right now.
