Excited to move out to College Station in a few months and I'm extremely fortunate that I can still go to an SEC school that had a program that I was looking for. With that said looking at the home schedule this year the A&M season ticket holders can't be too excited about how it shook out this year?

I mean LSU to close out the year will be big, perhaps Arkansas means something more to A&M fans due to the old SWC rivalry, but the biggest games of the year definitely seem to be on the road this year.

With that said I'm pretty pumped about SC coming to College Station in 2015. Which will also included home games vs AU and 'Bama so I may have to buy that season pass (or whatever the thing is called for students)

Unfortunately we are playing them in Jerry World again. I don't know of a single person on either side that would rather play there than at our two home stadiums. I think most Aggies that went to the game last year had a great time in Fayetteville.

ETA: Other than LSU the only game I am excited about is Ole Miss since we have played at their place the past two seasons.

Arkansas is in "North Texas." That's what we're calling Jerryworld now, right?

Anyway, the home slate pretty much blows. Ole Miss should be a fun game and LSU obviously but the rest is all meh. It's amazing given how good Mizzou has been but they generate no excitement. Schools like Rice are meaningful in Houston and have some history but most Ags don't really give a shite. ULM and Lamar are both putrid.

Nothing against Missouri, it's just that this will make it 5 or 6 years in a row playing them which we never did before the Big 12 collapsed.

Poor Missouri doesn't really fit in anywhere. I guess Arkansas and Mizzou could quickly become more of a rivalry but they are so historically detached form everyone in the SEC no one really gets pumped to play them. And they don't play any of their old Big 8 rivals anymore.

Home schedule, all and all, isn't that bad:

LSU
Missouri
Ole Miss
Lamar
UL Monroe
Rice

To put it in perspective, here are the HOME schedules when I was in school (first 4 years of the Big 12 conference):

1996 Season

North Texas
#12 Colorado
Louisiana Tech
Kansas State
Texas Tech
Oklahoma (John Blake Oklahoma)

1997 Season

Sam Houston State
Southwest Louisiana (Now UL-Lafayette)
North Texas
Iowa State
#19 Oklahoma State
Baylor (automatic win)
Texas (4-7 version)

1998 Season

Louisiana Tech
North Texas
#2 Nebraska
#25 Texas Tech
Oklahoma (Year before Stoops)
#13 Missouri

1999 Season

Louisiana Tech
Tulsa
Southern Miss
Baylor (automatic win)
Kansas (automatic win)
Oklahoma State
#5 Texas

I'd put the 2014 home schedule against ANY of the home schedules from when I was in school except for the 1998 season...and that's only because of Nebraska and Missouri.

Although we took a huge amount of beat downs after joining the SEC the rotation has always been UGA / UT at home or UF / Clemson at home. So we've always been guaranteed at least 2 big home games a year. Every once and a while a Bama, AU, or LSU would be on there was well.

If (I should say when) Texas gets back on the schedule A&M will also have a similar set up. It will be difficult but it'll guarantee an exciting home schedule practically every year.

In one year, we have:

LSU, Ole Miss, (SEC East team)

In the other year, we have:

Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina

The Arkansas game at JerryWorld takes a home game away every other year.

I'm a season ticket holder and generally DGAF who the opposing team is as long as the Aggies are playing. The university already has my money and if it's a home game, I'll be there no matter what. I care much more about home scheduling in other sports like basketball where I only catch a couple of games a year. I can see why playing a Rice or SMU wouldn't seem appealing to a South Carolinian but might appeal to an Ag who's nostalgic about the SWC.

Having said that, there has been at least one game a year that I haven't been too thrilled to attend.

For me, that game in 2013 was UTEP and this year it'll be the opener against Lamar. The UTEP game felt like we were bringing guns to a pillow fight.

Count me in the minority that would like to play Mizzou every year. I'm a big fan of Coach Pinkel.

Well yeah I mean we have UK and Vandy annually too but I didn't think that was worth mentioning for the excitement of a home schedule.

Maybe its just me but I like that we play Rice and SMU. Lots of history there.

Just the way it is. Our 2015 home schedule will be incredible: USC, Auburn, Alabama, MSU plus Arizona State in our backyard (Houston).

I think Rice/SMU are tremendous cupcake games. The local press gets involved and that's always nice. I just don't like them without a marquee game.

And CGSC left out a pretty big point on the future home sched

Even: LSU (OM, East Rot) + 16 (UCLA)/18 (Oregon)
Odd: Bama, Auburn, USCe, (MSU)

The rotational will normally be a game people look forward to because we haven't played that school in a while (esp since UGA or UT is likely in '16). And with our marquee OOC game and LSU, the even years, at least after this one, will be pretty nice.

The odd years will be more "normal" for a home schedule but it should normally be a pretty good slate.

wasn't bashing bro. Just saying.

And I think given the 4/3 setup, we'll pretty much always at least try to set our marquee (if there is only 1) OOC game on the even years.

If Texas is going to continue refuse to play us and if we could get out of JerryWorld for Arkansas I wouldn't mind keeping a home and home with SMU on a permanent basis.

Mizzou is a thorn in the side right now primarily because they are getting in the way of playing other East teams we've yet to play.

I imagine they feel the same way about us right now too. There were eye rolls on both sides when it was found out t&p we were scheduled again this year.

I thought Oregon was scheduled to visit Kyle in 2019? But I do agree that, at least while Arkansas is in Jerryworld, we will try to schedule a marquee team for a home game in even numbered years.

And put me down as another vote for playing at least one of Rice and SMU every year for our cupcake game(s). Good exposure in those areas, With the bonus that there's actually some history behind the games.
