Can someone make sense of this for me? UT Athletics

Cuonzo Martin takes his team to the NCAA Tourney and gets them to the Sweet 16. But he is hated and never supported by his fanbase.
Butch Jones goes 5-7 (2-6) and misses a bowl game (which should never happen at a school like Tennessee). Yet he is already loved by the fanbase.
How does this make any sense?

Martin took over a program that had made 6 straight tourneys.
Jones took over program that missed a bowl game 4/6 years.

I don't think Butch Jones is a good coach though. Good recruiter, but he will not last long here imo.

because martin sucked arse. Under produced all year long, not consistant, had a fluke 16 run and thank God we didnt pay him and be stuck with this trash for a coach

I know people talk a lot of shite on here, but Im starting to believe some of you don't know what rebuilding is. You can't expect a team that is in the beginning stages of rebuilding to dominate.

It seems UT fans had made their mind up on Cuonzo before this season started. Truth be told, most had their mind made up on him the day he was hired because he wasn't Bruce Pearl.

They have a better true basketball arena than any of those schools. Syracuse's Carrier Dome is mainly a football arena.

Well, about CBJ, I consider myself a logical fan. I'm not exactly happy with 5-7, but the improvements we saw in terms of discipline, coaching, player development, and overall hype give me and other logical fans an optimistic perspective heading forward. Some people may have expected more, but objectively looking at last years schedule with a new coach and our roster, it was hard too expect more than 5-6 wins anyway.

I don't expect dominance. If I was a UT fan though, I would expect a Bowl game every year no matter the situation.

We were fourth actually. What more did I expect? Not losing to A&M TWICE, not losing to UGA, not losing to UF 3 times, and more than one win in the SEC tournament. I also wanted to be 100% sure that we were going to make the tournament well before selection day. So...
