I mentioned this in another thread...whats the favorite saying of your announcers? (past or present)

I mentioned TOUCHDOWN AUBURN!!! as done by Jim Fyffe for AU.

I can also think of John Wards "Its Football time in Tennessee!" for UT.

Im sure Munson said something dawgs recall. Suspect its either " Lyndsey Scott!!! Lyndsey Scott!! Lyndsey Scott!!" or "Its raining Sugar from the Sky" or "Oh My God, a Freshman!" Though he was the only announcer who I ever recall stating yardage in half yards. (we're on the gator 35 and a HALF yard line...as example).

What else you got?

To me Dave is a little more famous for sayings like

quote:

Dave South:Aggies lined up on the opponents 2 yard line

Dive up the middle

(crowd errupts)

(silence)

Dave South:Touchdown!

Wow the aggies fumbled at the 1 and the opponents ran it back for 99 yards for a touch down

so much delay. i will say that being in the SEC has allowed for more TV time which I have to put up with him less.

Munsons thing was how hyperbolic he was.

"So we'll try to kick one a hundred thousand miles"

"This is ungodly!"

"We cannot- there's just no time!"

"The stadium rocks and swings..."

"Washington caught it, thinking of Montreal and the Olympics, and ran out of his shoes right down the middle 80 yards! Gator Bowl rocking, stunned, the girders are bending now. Look at the score!"

"Look at the Sugar falling out of the sky!"

"The stadium- well, the stadium fell down, now they'll have to rebuild this thing, they'll have to rebuild it now... this is incredible!"

ETA: He measured everything in half-yards because it made every play seem that much more dire. It put an emphasis on how every inch mattered.

quote:

It was during his MNF run that Cosell coined a phrase that came to be so identified with football that other announcers and spectators—notably Chris Berman—began to repeat it. An ordinary kickoff return began with Cosell giving commentary about a player's difficult life. It became extraordinary when he suddenly observed, "He could go all the way!" As evidenced by the thousands of websites that cite Cosell's quote, many sports commentators consider this to be one of the most famous sports quips of all time.

"HE COULD... GO... ALL... THE... WAY!
