I think LSU is doing the same. Some schools want him as a RB. He's a dynamic athlete that can do a lot of things.

He would fit into our offense really well being able to line up in the slot or in the backfield but I have no idea where we stand with him.

We have Rodney Anderson and Jay Bradford committed at RB so I would guess they are selling him more on the WR part. Anderson is probably another combo WR/RB guy though just bigger

We've already got a RB and a FB committed with another high profile RB being heavily recruited and I guess being considered a lean (a term I am not very fond of using). So I don't think RB would be in his future at LSU.

Slot WR in the Josh Reed mold (not saying he's as good) would be my guess on the next level.

Merritt is just one of those versatile players you can slide into whatever you ask him to do without a hitch. We didn't take a running back last class and we have 2 commits for 15' but this kid is just a phenomenal athlete, you take him in a heartbeat without batting an eye.

College station's a great town and these are two great kids. Hope Merritt Senior came as well.

Well of course we offered as QB, that goes without saying, right?

But seriously, we offered as a RB. Seems we're looking for a third RB in the class, as we also recently offered Ronald Jones II.

I know I'm the one that asked what position, but I don't think it will have a bearing on his recruitment. I just asked out of curiosity. I havent read anything that would make me believe he's looking to play one position over another.

Chigbu is meaningless to LSU fans because he has no offer and likely doesn't get one. Merritt is gonna be tough to pull from us. Both are good prospects but Merritt is the prize. Chigbu just is in the wrong year but really it doesn't matter because he would slot low in the 14, 15 or 16 classes. Just an incredible run of wrs in LA those 3 years. Potentially 5 five * wrs from those 3 groups (Noil, Dupre in 14, Johnson in 15, Sullivan and Jones in 16)

Merritt is a ridiculous athlete. I will be very surprised if he doesn't jump significantly after his Sparq showing. Not saying he will go 5 Star but he will likely be consensus Top 100 and high 4 Star. A kid like that you can put all over the field and he would thrive in an offense like A&M's that can get him the ball in space.

Chigbu is a really nice prospect but doesn't have quite the buzz. Love to get them both though.

Many times it would be Manziel extending a play with his athleticism and allusiveness that would allow the WR to adjust off their route to get open.

Do your other QB's share that trait or talent? Arm strength and accuracy is one thing, when the pocket breaks down it all goes out the door.

I'm honestly asking a question since idk your QB depth chart, so Spare me the speedy at QB nonsense, please.

And many times he'd miss reads before relying on his elusiveness to extend the play.

Obviously no one on the roster is JFF. But they don't need to be arguably the best QB in CFB history to take advantage of guys like Noil or Merritt. Being the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year or the country's consensus top pro style QB is probably sufficient.

I think people are going to be surprised with our offense this year, both in its effectiveness and what it looks like. The ball is going to be out of the QBs hands much quicker. I think that will show how we can get the ball out to guys like Speedy and Quiv and show how our offense lets guys make plays in space
