Anybody know what kind of chances they'd have?
How awesome would it be to have an Olympian or two on the team?

Marlon could feasibly do it in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. He would have to shave about a second and a half off his 400 meter time to be inline with what made the finals in London 2012 if his PRs are accurate. I know he placed second in the 110 meter hurdles (would have been good for 4th in London 2012) and made the final for the 400 meter hurdles at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine in 2013.

ETA: It seems I am at least a bit uninformed as Olympians use a different size hurdle (42 in) than what he has previously competed with (mostly 39 in although some like the ones in Donetsk were 36 in).

Nice info
I found that Brown really wants to win Olympic gold at some point. Two more years of training and they should be up there. It would be so freaking awesome if they won golds in 2016 and came back to start at corners for us

Apparently Tony Brown owns the fastest time in the nation for high schoolers in the 110m hurdles. His 100m dash time is also nothing to sneeze at.

ETA: Apparently, Marlon ran the same time. LINK

I want them to concentrate on football. I don't give a damn about track or the olympics.

There isn't a price that could be put on the positive advertisement that the program would get for two Olympic hurdlers to also have the talent to play for the great Nick Saban and the University of Alabama. Big picture bro.

I'd put it right around the price of a torn hamstring and/or missing football practice/workouts to focus on another sport that needs a different type of training.

Yep Teague is right and I imagine the training for potential Olympics would be extremely counter productive to the training for being a lockdown Corner. There is a reason you don't see that much, and a reason why "track star" is usually a negative attribute when discussing Football recruits.

I think Marlon would also have a chance at competing in the Olympics in the decathlon as he won by huge margins at national meets in the pentathlon the couple times he tried it. Of course, that would take considerably more training than he'll have time for but it shows you the type of athlete he is.

As for the hurdles, my guess is that neither will make 2016 if they split time between football and track. Possible 1 or both could take a redshirt in football in '15 to focus solely on qualifying. I would think they would be more in their prime in '20 if one of them were to choose a track career over NFL.

It's a dream that both of them have so I'm hoping it happens.

Marlon is more on the fence I believe. Brown seems adamant about winning Olympic gold someday. Marlon wants to either do both or play football only I believe

Marlon has stated in the past that he wants to compete in the '16 games

And it was in the same race. The only time they raced head -to-head last year it was a virtual tie with TB being named the winner

It's amazing the opinions people have about what other people should do with their lives.

This. If these two young men have that dream, the University shouldn't stand in the way of their being able to realize it. Thankfully, CNS is a hell of a lot smarter than most on here and you can bet realizes the potential for the Alabama brand to reach a new audience.

They were recruited to play Corner, like I said they will have to make the choice at some point to be the best track athlete they can be or the best Corner they can be. The training/build and attributes they would be looking for with both would definitely conflict. Both should make their own decisions on what is best for each of them as individuals. But like I said when discussing football recruits the term "track star" is mostly derisive in discussion. Now they can both choose to play football/run track in college but at some point they both won't be able to be NFL corners and Olympic track athletes.

Remember that talk we had about the line between being realistic and optimistic?
Just let me dream bro.

I said "I hope". I didn't say I'd try to stop them from doing what they want or even that I'd be angry about it. But, I'm not a track fan. I want what's best for my favorite football team. Having our CB's training for another sport is not what's best for my favorite football team.

this reminds me of a story jerry pate tells about former alabama athletic director paul 'bear' bryant.

shortly after winning the us amateur, pate was called into bryant's office...presumably to be congratulated for winning such a prestigious tournament. instead, bryant said something along the lines of "you aren't on scholarship to play in some damn us amateur. you're on scholarship to play for the university of alabama"

i'm sure saban wouldn't have as short sided of a reaction

If TB and Marlon do well in both sports it will only help our efforts in recruiting the next two-sport 5* prospect.
