Anyone remember the hype for the undefeated buckeyes before this game? How great they and their heisman winning qb were? How badly they were going to destroy the gators? THis was the greatest team ever, if you remember, because they beat an also undefeated michigan team. I would guess that clemson would be FSU claim to fame this year. I just feel this year's championship has a lot of similarities and we will see auburn bring home the title. Maybe not with a beating like the gators but i still see them pullig it out. a one loss battle tested auburn team being told how lucky they are to be there vs an untested team being told how great they are. I believe the gut check will come for them in this game and i dont know that they will respond. Thoughts?

(It was 2006 teams that played) I have had this feeling for a while now. You'll remember that 2008 Oklahoma also had the highest scoring offense of all time and remember how that turned out . For how shitty we are at the moment, we sure did some work in our high times.

I keep referring to this. Everybody said we didn't belong in the game.

UF fricked their shite up. I clearly remember the CBS experts picks all had OSU winning the game.

They were wrong.

I see a LOT of similarities to this game.

I remember ESPN calling them "perhaps the greatest CFB team ever". After the back to back losses to UF and LSU, the SEC pretty much shut that down.

The Gators are going to need Harvin on the outside with just about everything on the inside certain to be stuffed. Ohio State DT Quinn Pitcock was, arguably, the nation's best defensive lineman this season as the true definition of an anchor on the inside. Strong enough to hold at the point of attack against two and three blockers, and quick enough to be a regular in the backfield, he's a top ten caliber NFL draft pick who could change the game from the start by forcing the Gators to do everything east-west instead of north-south. That plays into the speed of the Buckeye defensive back seven.

it's an inferior team that was sent to Glendale to give the Buckeyes something to do.

However, the Gators are a bit of a booby prize after USC lost to UCLA, and with no other viable options other than Michigan.

Ohio State #2 scoring defense in the country @ 10.42ppg.

Wait for it... wait for it...

Score was 21 to 7 by second quarter. Get fricked buck nuts.

Florida had 370 total yards to Ohio State's 82. The Buckeyes' Heisman Trophy quarterback Troy Smith was held to only 4 pass completions (2 in each half); 35 passing yards; 1 interception; 0 touchdowns.

Yes, I recall how in one of the games OU ran the kick off back (or something) early in the game -- I thought the hype was correct for about 3 minutes there.

Yeah, we kicked off to OSU to start the game and they ran it back for a TD. The entire stadium was rumbling and the shite talking by OSU fans reached monumental proportions.

1) FSU is only a one touchdown favorite. I don't think anyone said FSU is going blow out Auburn. Nobody would be surprised if Auburn wins. Especially with Vegas 0-4 in BCS Games.

2) Ohio State 2006 had no frame of reference what so ever to the SEC. Florida vs SEC\FSU, Clemson vs Georgia\USCe ,Duke vs A&M. No direct comparisons what so ever but enough to say Auburn can score on FSU and FSU can score on Auburn. Auburn has already torn to shreds Mizzou's and Bama's vaunted run defenses.

Auburn could beat FSU but it still wouldn't the same especially with the SEC streak. It would be business as usual.

Thats with the officials missing an OBVIOUS hold on that KO return too.

And then right after OSU ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, they kicked off to us and we returned it for a touchdown.

Hell of a fun game!

2005 Title Game (2004 Season)

Anyone remember the hype for the undefeated Trojans before this game? How great they and their heisman winning qb were? How badly they were going to destroy the Sooners? This was the greatest team ever, if you remember, because they beat....everyone and had a AP Title from the year before. I would guess that winning a meh Pac-10 would be their claim to fame that year. I just feel this year's championship has a lot of similarities and we will see..... a similar game to USC vs OU in 2005.

Ohio State had 82 yards of total offense against UF. AU doesn't have that kind of defense.

Oh yeah I remember. It was OSU could not lose. They were the team of the century and no way UF could hang.

UF made them look like they were wearing cement shoes.

Point taken but it was OU and their second straight appearance in the BCSNCG. They lost the first, they lost a second, they'd lose another and they've lost more BCS NCG than anyone. It's OU of the 2000s, anyone who thought that team would win (unless they were playing FSU) was a moron.

btw the next two teams who have lost the most BCS NCGs are Ohio St and FSU, both 1-2.

FWIW, that OSU team was the only CFB in history to play three #2 teams in the same season (@ Texas, Michigan and Fla). Also losing Ginn 10 secs into the game certainly didn't help their offensive game plan. They would have still lost but he was their X factor (like Harvin).
