"Old school" SEC fans...rate the addition of A&M and Mizzou after two years.

On a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being frick these chodes why are they in our conference, 10 being these are two solid additions and I'm glad we snatched up before another conference did.

A&M offers a presence in Texas and solid competition while not being too much of a threat.

6-7. They are solid additions in my book. Much better than the additions made by the big 12 and the soon to be additions to the B1G, lol! And for that matter the the PAC 12.

8-9 if I were to answer assuming expanding to 14 was an absolute necessity.
A 0 if staying at 12 is the alternative.
The 14 team league is a massive cluster-F and has just been addition for addition's sake.

Next year, the SEC, ACC, and Big 10 will all have 14 teams. Whether you agree it was a "necessity" or not, the fact is, college football is heading toward 4 or 5 major conferences of 14 (probably 16) teams each. Having said that, what combination of two teams would you rather have?

Well, since I've always loved the SEC especially when I lived in GA as a kid. I'd give MU a 10 spot, and aTm as well.
Compared to the rest of the conference movement it seems like a no brainer.
SEC not only won that round but may have stopped everyone in their tracks.

In a pipe-dream world where state politics and whatnot played no part I'd keep aTm because as an LSU fan I really do enjoy playing them every year again, and probably UNC to add to the basketball brand, and add another state that is actually in the southeastern united states. I don't mean that as a knock on Mizzou, I just think I'd prefer them in a pie-in-the-sky scenario.

It's the SECW and the SECE and we play a cross conference challenge every season. The players don't get to play every team while they are in college, and the students and fans don't get to enjoy games with all of the schools nearly as much. Some of that can be remedied by tweaking the schedule over time, but it won't fix all of it.
Mizzou still hasn't even been put on an LSU schedule yet. Vandy hasn't been on an LSU schedule since 2010 and there's no telling when they will be again. LSU will go more than a decade between trips to South Carolina probably. That's just nonsense.

The correct answer is 10. The reality is that money is driving the ship, and with that in mind it is a home run. It is all about the cable money and the SEC network "in market" footprint greatly expanded. If you don't think that was a huge consideration for all parties, you haven't been paying attention. The footprint's population increased by 50% while only adding 2 schools.
That being said... it only works if the programming is compelling and those markets can truly be delivered by having energized fanbases and interest. It seems like both have been a success. So, mo money for all the schools. Homerun.

Especially when compared to what other conferences added. You can say 12 was better or Mizzou isn't Southeast all you want, but at the end of the day, conferences are moving to 14 and the SEC added the best 2 schools of any conference hands down.

what would money or tv markets have to do with the first 2 years? these both encompass the addition of both teams regardless of the number of years.
not being an old school sec fan I can't comment, but as a 90's SEC fan I'd say both teams are adequate.

I would have to give the Texas A&M T-Sipin Aggys a 7 and the Mizoo Tigrs a 8. The Aggys should dominate the Soutwest Confrence for yrs and the Mizoo Tiggers will roll the Big Ten
