Tennessee, at least in the eyes of recruiting sites, has really been stepping up in terms of in-state talent. It's been solidly ahead of South Carolina and Mississippi for a few years now.

This surprised me.

Surprised me also, seeing that louisiana only has 2 in the top 100. Down year for LA recruiting. 2016-2017 will be monstrous though.

Not so sure I agree w/ this... TN has produced Marlon Brown, Dont'a Hightower, Barrett Jones and... Tiny Richardson since a/b 2008? I'm sure I'm leaving off a few. But SC has produced DaQuan Bowers, AJ Green, Robert Quinn, Stephon Gilmore, Alshon Jeffery, Lattimore, Clowney, DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Ellington and a slew of lesser known NFL talents.
Maybe TN being poorly coached the last few years meant that some good kids didn't get developed, but I think it's too early to say TN is outpacing SC in producing talent.

I'm surprised we have 2. One must be Matt Elam, and I hope he picks UK over Bama.
This is also why Stoops is mining for gold in Ohio and finding a few gems. Have to go out of the state for most talent.

I couldn't name you one rivals national recruit guy now. Especially coming around Mississippi.
All are on 247sports or scout.

You are probably missing 15 to 20 guys from TN that have been drafted since 2008. Just two years ago, TN lead the nation in first round picks.

Top 250 doesn't mean much. Top 20, Top 50 even, but when you go 250 deep it's a crap shoot.
SCAR's Top 5-10 every year usually pan-out at an unusually high rate and turn into solid D1 players.

I only named elite SC players, there are 30 more that are on NFL rosters right now. Unless there was some serious oversight in the top247 rankings going back to 2008, SC absolutely blows TN out of the water for top end talent.
EDIT: I couldn't find a draft website that organized picks by state but I did find out that Cordarrelle Patterson is from Rock Hill, SC. Didn't know that.

Are Florida and Texas the top 2? Or does Cali fall in there somewhere?

Impossible, LSU fans always tell us that LA is on par with GA as far as high school talent.

Clearly this is the only reason you created this thread because I guess you're tired of hearing about the lack of TN's in-state talent, however I see it differently. The more you brag about UT's in-state talent the more depressed you should feel about UT's current program.
