I'll just say it, Johnson deserves the Broyles award nomination more than Lashlee does and it sucks that he wasn't nominated.

Johnson is winning games with Jake Holland. Just imagine what he will do once he gets his guys in. I think he was the 2nd best hire after Gus and am glad to have him on staff

Meh, he is getting the proper praise from fans, but his defense isn't to the status of him earning that award yet.

I think Johnson has done a solid job and his coaching staff has done a very solid job. This defense, minus a few pieces, has improved top to bottom starting with fundamentals. I really wish Tre Williams was an early enrollee so he could get spring practice in. He is once of the biggest recruits we have gotten in a long time and could really be a lynch pin for the defense for 3 years like CJ Mosely has been for Bama.

He isn't being talked about, which recent trends suggest is a good thing.

You are acting as if Lashlee being named, made it so Johnson couldn't make the list. Johnson wouldn't have made the list whether Lashlee made it or not.

Johnson has done a very good job given what he has to use. There are time when we've had 3 true freshman on the field on defense. Not to mention him moving Therezie to Star. Also We play a converted LB at DE a converted DT at DE and a converted DE at DT. Then you have Holsey and Jonathan Jones going down. He moved around the two Ryans and they have played great.

No not at all. I don't think Lashlee should be nominated at all

I agree with all of this, but it won't win him the Broyles award. I dig what Johnson has done fwiw.

Yes and the D is coming along great. I think they are really starting to gel. However they are still giving up big plays and yards. Take a look at who wins the Broyles award and a D with our rankings will not win Johnson the award. Any other questions?

Someone has to have the lube ready so Gus doesn't go in too dry. It is a hard job

I know I give it, but I can also admit when I am wrong about something when presented with information that says I am. Apparently there can be only one name offered for consideration for the Broyles Award per team and Auburn chose to enter Lashlee as the candidate.

So the fact Lashlee is on the list does preclude Ellis as a candidate. I was not aware of this until a couple of minutes ago. Now with that said remember Auburn made the decision that Lashlee would be the one. Who decides that is not something I know.

Anyway my apologies for stating something that was false. However, it seems if you don't like Lashlee over Ellis you may take your complaints to JJ...

I think it is Ryan Russell. Listened to Pat Dye talk about S&C Coaches this morning on the OD. I think Russell has AU players physically and mentally tough, exceeding what they believe their potential is and learning what their true potential is.

Ask any player and they will say S&C makes or breaks a team. David Cutcliffe at Duke is having unprecedented success and his first step was a revamp of S&C. Once you are up on the level of the best though, there is diminishing marginal returns

Good thing about Russell is he understands what Gus needs and gets them into shape for our gameplan. Been huge

Very good call. My Nephew is an OC in DIII working his way up and was a GA before this job at a DI school. He said the same thing about the S&C program being vital to the success of a program.
