I have always been kind of confused by this. Did people claim that he "hated" Auburn? Why?

FYI every other fan base has been over that story for at least a year. Auburn fans are the only ones who bring this shite up anymore.

He loves Auburn, mostly because he'll look back at his one season at Auburn as the highlight of his career.
It certainly wasn't getting run off from Florida for being a thug or slumming in junior college, and it certainly isn't losing season after losing season at Carolina.
So ya, Sept 2010-Jan 2011, the 5 months Cam Newton mattered.

some people said cam didn't care about auburn
that auburn paid for him and he would have gone to Mississippi state otherwise and therefore never cared about auburn but just had to go there

The big thing were "Cam is using Auburn as a stepping stone; he doesn't care about AU; once sanctions are implemented AU will never hear from him again; AU will disown Cam and he won't be affiliated with Auburn."
Of course it's been a while, and I think it's well established now that an ongoing relationship occurs at this point, making these threads redundant.

Plus the whole NFL rookie of the year thing and multi-million dollar endorsements. But yeah, other than that, he's got those 5 months.
