Former Alabama safety and Undrafted free agent Robert Lester has been on of the few bright spots for the Panthers this season with two INTs in his first two games. He is one of my favorite Alabama players since Saban's arrival.
Here is a video breakdown of one of his interceptions.

and here is an AL.com article on his performance thus far.

Been a good class from Bama. Lesterdaintercepter, Lacy running folks over, Fluker and Warmack playing well. I don't know what is up with Dee though, I think he's hurt?

That's the Robert Lester we missed last year... Glad he is getting it together though.
Dee is supposedly hurt, but I think Rex is just covering for him right now. He should be OK in the long run, IMO.

Lester didnt have a bad year last year

His draft stock certainly dropped through the floor. Guess that could be due to pro day performance though.

His stock fell because of physical limitations and bad angles.
He proved them wrong, he's playing at a great level. The Panthers pass D has shot up, and he's a big reason why. He'll make some mistakes though, but if they let him finish the year I think he's at least getting some talk for DRotY. I don't think he'll get it, nor do I think he should at the moment.

I never thought that he really had any significant draft stock...i could be wrong though.
He does have some physical limitations, but he is an extremely hard worker, and he is very football savvy. He was a good get for any team, especially the Panthers.

Before his senior year, he was projected as an early round pick by a lot of mock drafts. By the time of the draft he was projected as a late round pick. Then he went undrafted.

One thing he does have and I think its why the draft is such a crapshoot is true ball skills at DB. Too many put to much focus on what kids do in April without pads on not what they did last fall with pads on.

Sounds like the scouts and draft analysts fricked up.

Mainly those 7 reps with 225 I believe it was.

Bench press is such an overrated combine drill, amirite?

He's still taking those bad angles...but I think that can obviously be coached out.

He also had a tough year on the field last season. Alot of the blame was placed on Vinnie and Deion, but Lester really struggled at times himself (I distinctly remember the LSU and A&M games being noticeably bad).
It could have been the transition in responsibility as he played closer to the LOS last season more than he did when he was teamed up with Barron.

I dont remember him struggling that much in the LSU game. ANy video evidence? I remember he had a really hard hit, but that is all I remember.
Yeah, he took some bad angles against A&M last year, but lets get real, who didnt play like shite on our defense in that game?

IIRC his 40 was fricking awful too. Like a 4.7 or something.

Well, the point of this thread was to praise Robert Lester on his recent success. That has not been achieved so far.
Roll Tide.

Congrats to Lester and I hope he continues to succeed and has a long, successful career

Yep, u are right... my bad. He did his thing in the LSU game. I went back and did a quick look and it was 27 getting abused, not 37.
ETA: And I want to give a shot out to Rob. I am glad he is finding success in the NFL. I wish him all the best. RTR!!!!
