For State it's our Defensive Ends. Many of you know that we lost much of our NFL stocked backfield. We'll be young back there, but most of the guy filling in have very good talent. Their inexperience will show at times with blown coverages and unpronounced shifts. It's extremely important that our DE's get to the QB so that the opposing WR don't get separation from said DB's. Our Defensive Ends have an exponential amount of talent and depth that we didn't show up last year. Look to see our defensive run different stunts with our linebackers and switches among our DE. I'm looking forward to see how this group succeeds over the next year.

Yours?

QB is the correct answer for all teams.

Gonna have to disagree here. I think we can pound through a season running the ball with a running QB if we need to. Wouldn't be a great season, but I think it could end up a winning one.

The one position to me that we HAVE to start getting production out of are LBs. If our LBs don't step up under Ellis Johnson this year, our defense will suck *again*.

And while the new (hopefully) QB is getting his feet under him this year, we have GOT to play better defense.

It's a trick question.

Are you asking which position that is currently a strength ... what might happen if it was not as effective this season as is to be expected? IE: If our ends at SC were to be ineffective this season?

Or, are you asking which position is our weakest, but needs to come ready to play, "be effective" or else it may cause our season to suffer?

Which question are you asking?

There is no one position that any team can afford to be ineffective. It's just a nonsensical question. No team can afford to have a weak link in their chain if they expect to win many ballgames - so having a weak link is not an affordable option in today's specialized world where OCs and DCs look for weak links to exploit.

SC's weak link, early, may be our LBs because we are young and relatively inexperienced there, although we have a DLine that will lessen the pressure on our LBs, early, we hope. We have some very very talented LBs, just very young for the most part.

for UGA: Safety

It's the forgotten cog in the run defense.
And it's the safety valve over the top on playactions and trick plays.

For our defense to improve again on PPG, we need a huge year from our safeties.

QB for LSU. We lost a lot on defense, and while our D will still be really good, but not as ridiculous as most years, so we need some legit offensive production if we are going to someone make it through our gauntlet of a schedule unscathed.

Outside of QB, I would say the D line as a unit.

Driskel needs to put on some big boy pants and chuck the ball around the field.

no more staring down one wide receiver, and holding the ball for 5 minutes

In all honesty, RB for LSU. We've had the horses to lean for awhile. Who knows when Hill will be back, and we really can't afford any injury or let downs there.

I would say that the QB and LB position are of equal importance really. I don't think it would be a winning season just pounding the ball with a running QB. However, I also agree we won't be in many games without good LB play.

Quarterback. With O-Line being a close second and LB third.

I don't think we are taking into account that our problems at LB were greatly amplified by the fact that we couldn't get a first down on offense. Mediocre LB'ers defending 90 plays per game=awful LB play.

Offensive Line

When three of the top four performers out of that unit leave, there is no doubt we need the next wave of prospects to step up.

I have met our team chaplain a few times. He is a great guy. he is having an impact on a lot of guys. Of course there will still be a few thugs but I think this is the most high character uga team we have had in recent memory

Offensive line, in my opinion.

I think our offense will be explosive enough to make up for some big plays given up by our DBs. Without an effective offensive line, we won't be able to do that.
