Current roster:
Yeldon - Starter. 15-18 carries per game (gone in 2 years)
Drake - likely first off bench. 5-8 carries per game.
Fowler - not an RB in 2013. He's an H-back.
Calloway - not an RB in 2013. H-Back or TE.
Hart - not gonna get many carries at RB. He will play PR/KR. Wouldn't shock me to see him tried on D in the Javy Arenas role if FR pass him on the depth chart (which they will).

That's 2 RBs currently on the roster.

New commits:
Henry - very likely to get run at RB. He's solid and capable. Could slide to TE in a Vernon Davis type role down the road (not calling him V Davis, calm down).
T Jones - possible RS. Will play role in 2014.
Tenpenny - could play role that Drake played in 2012.
Kamara - will have a hybrid role of RB and slot WR. Will be used in passing game if he doesn't take RS this year. Give him time in weight room under Cochran and he could be special.

RB depth is solid, but there is a role and plan for each player. Should be fun to watch. Look forward to seeing certain fans proven wrong about guys who will "never see the field".

Sure, but some of those roles suck compared to what they were hoping for when they signed on.

Maybe. Best player plays. There are no favorites at Bama so no kid can say he wasn't given a fair shot (I don't think anyone who has transfered has said that either).

No one on this coaching staff is promising PT to players. They are offering an opportunity to come in and compete.

While really good players don't.

I'm not whining. Just discussing. Why so defensive?

I am not sure about this because Drake is a different kind of back. He is a speed guy while our primary backs have always been bruisers. I think it will be Henry as the primary backup.

Are we sure he is going to be back? Saban said in his press conference today it was possible he wouldn't return from his injuries.

Hart will stay at RB, transfer, or medical. I don't think he has ever even played DB.

Id just like to take a minute to thank Alabama for taking so many RBs this year because its going to make LSU life so much more easier over the next year with Leonard Fournette.

Are you privy to the conversations between recruits and Alabama's staff?

It will obviously be used against them next year and I doubt they get all 3 of Fournette, Thomas, and Scarbarough (even though he isn't a pure RB). I mean, it wouldn't shock me if they got all three, but I wouldn't bet on it. Had they signed one or two fewer this year, they probably get all three of those guys next year.

Yeldon - feature back
Fowler - coming off massive injury, will contribute if healthy
Hart - coming off massive injury, not good for a speed guy. Might not be back
Drake - will see 5+ carries/game next year
Jones/Kamara/Henry - one will emerge as contributor, two will redshirt and prep for 2014

Not defensive, just not sure why you're knighting for guys that knew full well that the cupboard is full at UA.

They knew what they were getting into, if at some point they decide that they have better opportunities for themselves elsewhere, then they can transfer. Ultimately it will be their decision, just like it was their decision to sign with UA in the first place.

I'm not knighting for anyone.

I agree.

I never said otherwise.

Not convinced he ends up at UA. Time will tell.

I think he is the most solid to UA, unless you think UA isn't going to take him.

It's pretty impressive, but as LSU learned this year with all its RBs, it's hard to find enough PT for RB to get enough touches to become effective.

My guess it will be a work in progress as the year wears on and how everyone else in the offense finds their role. Rest assured it will be whatever it is to have the best chance to win.

Not a Bama fan, but it's something I will try to follow and he how it plays out because it will be hard to get them all in and how it will work with the retooled OLine
