Some are projecting that A&M is going to be the other choice besides the SEC champ however why is Florida being dismissed so quickly.

If they somehow beat FSU (although it could happen) and Florida has only 1 loss then wouldnt be likely that they should be selected before a 2 loss sec school like LSU AM or SEC champ game loser?

I like how AM is getting some love but I would think that Florida is more deserving if they do happen to win out

Fiesta is pretty far west and maybe they think A&M or some other west div team will travel better.

if they finish #4 they will go. Otherwise it's up to the bowl to decide and I think for whatever reason, Florida isn't much of a draw right now. Probably their anemic offense especially without Driskell. But beat FSU and I still think any bowl would have a hard time passing on them at #5.

And I'm not sure they'd get to #4 even if the undefeateds fell. Ore/KSU/ND may well do what Bama did and not have much drop. Probably slide in just behind the Tide at #4 unless you get something weird like Wake beating ND. I don't think we can get two into the top 4 at this point bc Florida is not generating much hype and the rest will have 2 losses.

This is what I was thinking when I heard the Fiesta was thinking about taking A&M

Florida will be the SEC's second BCS team if they win out.

If Florida loses, then it will be either A&M or LSU, most likely LSU in the Fiesta against Oklahoma or in the Rose against Big10.

I think most people are expecting/assuming a Florida loss to FSU, thus the reason most projections have either LSU or A&M in the Fiesta.

Florida doesn't travel that well, especially compared to what would be a fired up A&M fan base. The TV ratings pimping Johnny Football would be much better than a boring Florida team as well. BCS bowls don't care about who "deserves" it more on the field (which at this point in the year I'd say A&M does anyway).

Don't think Florida is winning that game.
ESPN just rumored that Driskel might even be out for that game.

Florida is being forgotten b/c they are a bad 1 loss team. if they play A&M OR LSU again they lose both. ULL should have beat them too.

Probably true, but nonetheless they already played and beat both LSU and A&M.

If Florida wins out (I don't think they will FWIW), they're going to the BCS. And deservedly so. They will have gotten through one of the toughest schedules in the country with only 1 loss.

What about Georgia? I'm assuming that they lose in the SECCG. Assuming FSU beats UF, then who out of UGA/A&M would a BCS bowl pick?

Loser of the SECCG is not going BCS.... It's basically a LSU-A&M-Florida battle for the SEC's second BCS bowl bid. If Florida wins out, they get it. If Florida loses to FSU, it's an A&M-LSU battle. At this point, it's pretty simple as far as the second SEC BCS spot goes:

LSU and A&M fans both need FSU to beat Florida. FSU beats Florida and UF is out of the BCS discussion totally.

LSU fans need USC to beat Notre Dame (to put LSU at #4 and get automatic BCS bid)

A&M fans need Notre Dame to beat USC (to prevent LSU from getting an automatic BCS bid at #4)

To steal a line from Clint Eastwood, "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."

Unless Florida finishes in the top 4 and earns an automatic bid, it is completely at the discretion of the BCS bowls to choose any eligible team (14 or higher) up to the per conference limit. The winner of the SECCG gets an auto bid, but everyone else in the top 14 is fair game for that second at large bid. If the Fiesta or Rose Bowl want to grab a 10-2 LSU or 10-2 A&M instead of an 11-1 Florida, they can do it. The bowls choose teams based upon two factors: (1) ticket sales; and, (2) TV ratings. It's not hard to make a case for this year's Florida being less attractive than some 2-loss teams on those criteria.

pretty much agree with this. Honestly is there any bowl in the country that wouldn't want any of those 3? No way to go wrong really. Fiesta has got to be excited to have that sort of option available.

Florida has one of the best resume's in the country. THREE wins over top ten teams. 4 if they beat FSU. Their only loss is to UGA. Every team has bad games, just look at LSU vs Auburn. Very butthurt you are.

LSU isn't going to jump ND. Even if LSU passed them in the human polls (which too many dolts vote 1 vs 2 losses), they almost certainly would not do so in the computers. ND is #1 there as of right now and @SC isn't going to drop them enough.

Yeah, Florida certainly does it "ugly," but if they find a way to beat FSU then they cannot be excluded...they will have played one of, if not THE, toughest schedules in the country and finished 11-1.

Not to mention that two of those wins are over the two other SEC teams "wanting" the second BCS spot.

This is what Brad Edwards says on his Twitter. He's talking about it right now...

quote:

@JBradEdwards Folks, BCS at-large bids aren't always given to the team with the best record or ranking. Top concern is selling seats.

quote:

@JBradEdwards When more than one team can guarantee a sellout, next criteria are impact on local economy and then impact on TV ratings

quote:

@JBradEdwards Last season's Sugar Bowl defied all BCS logic. Can't explain why BSU or KSU didn't go over VT. Someone must've owed Michigan a favor.

Fair or not, I think this is why Florida isn't getting as much attention.

Every LSU fan on the rant thinks UF sucks. UF does not pass the eyetest. UF wins because of Special Teams, Defense, and an offense that does not turnover the ball (expect UGA). UF has a very low margin of error. Every win must be grinded out, Muschamp said that after the TAMU win. It has been 9 unimpressive wins.

I'm not butt hurt cock rocket. Florida was the benefactor of a ton of injuries which was when they got their only points. Plus since we seem to have an offense these days we would steam roll UF and aTm would too. Don't even try to argue that cock
