I think Saban nailed it when he called this
A gimmick offense. All jokes aside
Do you really believe that Saban will tuck his
tail between his legs and live in fear of playing
this type of team or do you think that the loss to
A & M pissed him off to the point of not resting until he has
retribution ?

Spread or any system is one thing.. Bama got beat by an all around solid football team that got great play from a great player in JFF.

The spread offense does not work in the SEC UNLESS you have a solid running game and good defense. That's it.

I think it doesn't matter what Saban does, we're gonna lead the SEC in points and total offense as long as Sumlin is here.

Looking at it as objectively as I can, I wouldn't call it a "gimmick" and it pushes the rules the same way Nick Saban pushes the rules in recruiting. The offense takes advantage of an edge.
To me, it is not fair to the defense that the offense is set and ready for a couple seconds while the defense is struggling to get in position ON PLAYS WHERE THE OFFENSE SUBSTITUTES. I have no issue with the no-huddle offense as long as there are no substitutions. Once the offense substitutes, there has to be some way to let the defense get as set and ready as the offense. From what I saw, this was a frequent problem and not just because the coaches "weren't prepared".
I haven't figured out what I would do. You have to keep using a play clock, and you can't force the offense to wait an extra five seconds when they might be penalized for delay. But something needs to be tweaked so that the defense isn't barely getting into a spot when the offense snaps and is ready to go.

Not sure what he is going to do. He better also get ready for an Aggie defense next year with a much improved secondary and greater depth on the D line as well as a kicking game that scores point, not throws points away.
Ags are gearing up but not worrying about Bama. Ags preparing for the totality of the SEC and the defensive side of the ball is what we will really be focusing on before 2013 comes around.

I am for one rule change that once an offense is set, that is it. You have three seconds to snap. So send em in motion, don't, but when they are set, they got three.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. It was noted several times during the broadcast that the officials were allowing Bama to match the Aggies substitution for substitution throughout the game. They even mentioned that it was giving the Bama D an extra couple seconds of rest.

The rules dictate that if the offense subs, then the defense must be given time to sub. But the offense subs first (because the defense has to wait to see if they do). By the time the offense subs, and the defensive subs run onto the field, they are barely given enough time to get in position while the offense has been set several seconds.
Like I said, I don't know exactly how to solve the problem, but I bet it doesn't stay this way very long. Over the course of a game, the advantage to the offense is too great.
