eta- fwiw, I'd be ok with Fla taking the SEC Reg season title, if it means Bama's streak continues. Bama football and gymnastics winning NC's after failing to win the SEC Championships.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team (45-5, 21-4 SEC) faces off against rival Florida (43-8, 20-5 SEC) in a three game Southeastern Conference series this weekend at Rhoads Stadium. Already the SEC Western Division champions, Alabama can clinch a share of the SEC regular season title with one win and win the title outright with two wins this weekend. First pitch on Friday, May 4, is set for 6:30 p.m. Game two is set for Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m., and will air on ESPN2, and game three will begin Sunday at 2 p.m., and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Florida: Florida and Alabama have played each other 49 times, with Alabama holding a 27-22 advantage. Florida, however, has won four straight games against Alabama, including both semifinal games at the 2011 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City

SEC WESTERN DIVISION CHAMPIONS
Alabama clinched its fifth straight SEC Western Division title going into the final weekend of the regular season. The title is also Alabama’s eighth Western Division as well, pulling them into a tie for first with LSU, who has also won eight division titles. Alabama and LSU are the only two schools to ever win the Western Division since the SEC began play in 1997.

"I think the consistency of success over the last five or six years, it seems like it’s come down to us and them – for sure the last three years," Alabama coach Patrick Murphy said. Florida won the SEC regular-season title in 2008 and ’09. Alabama won it the last two seasons. This time, it will be settled head-to-head. Alabama is 45-5 overall, 21-4 in SEC play. Florida is 43-8, 20-5 in the league. The scenarios are intriguing, and myriad. If Florida sweeps, it takes the league title outright. Alabama wins the league outright if it wins two games or sweeps. If Florida wins two out of three, it shares the league title with both Alabama and Tennessee, which sits in the clubhouse with a completed league record of 22-6.

I got hooked a couple years ago on it when I flipped onto ESPN to watch yalls spring game, and it was pre-empted while the Bama softball game concluded. I think it was into the 2nd qtr before it came on.

I couldn't understand why much of the gameplan is well executed drag bunts until I heard quite a few analysts say the reaction time the batter has (from a excellent softball pitcher) is about the the same as hitting a MLB pitcher, due to the distance. Amyway, kudos to Bama and to conference teams, representing well according to this Rankins as of May 1

Bama wins Game 2 with a score 9-1

That puts Bama one game up in the SEC regular season standings and assures at least a share of the SEC Regular season title.

ETA - I might be able to grab up enough support to change your name slightly from "Ortho" to "Unortho"...
...but I can't make any promises.

It's really not fair that Alabama has two softball teams.

I'm amazed that this softball thread hasn't made 3 pages yet and it's been 7 hours.

They do, but not as much as much as national championships.
