LSU junior infielder Greg Deichmann absolutely crushed a home run over the right-field Intimidator sign during the 1st inning of the Hofstra game on Wednesday night.

The ball was reportedly hit 486 feet. Per The Advocate:
quote:

“Anything that travels that far ought to have a flight attendant,” Mainieri said.

The estimated carry of Deichmann’s third home run of the young season, according to LSU’s TrackMan ball tracking system: 486 feet.

“When you hit a ball like that, you really don’t feel it,” Deichmann said. “It’s kind of one of those things that nobody knows how to describe. It’s the best feeling in the world, but there’s no feeling when it comes off the bat.”

I never thought that I would see a ball hit further than the one by Hawpe in Hoover, but that was it.

I was at the game when Bowie had a ball finally stop rolling at Bernie Moore. No shite. Belle hit one off my cousin that hit the married students appartments. That ball was crushed as well, but the wind was blowing out. Do t know how far it went but those apartments were 2 separate fences away from the other fences.

That balls hit hard. It's hit farrrrrrr. Back there. Back there. Caught by the left fielder right in front of the warning track.

That was a BOMB! Deichmann bringing back gorilla ball. Imagine how far that would have been with the old bats.

Deichmann needs to get hit in the face more often.

When the right fielder doesn't even take one step backward and just simply looks up at the sky....that's when you know you've truly crushed a ball.

....sadly I witnessed this in Houston several years back when Albert Pujols sent one over the left field fence to give the Cardinals a lead in the 8th inning. The place went dead quiet.

I think that's the first time I saw one clear the Intimidator! Wow! Great decision for Greg to come back for his senior season and graduate while upping his draft stock! This guy is the first true power hitter we've had since Mason Katz! Keep it rolling Greg!

Looked similar to a Jim Bowie bomb from the mid 80's at the old box. That thing landed in the parking lot on the west sidelines.

Jim Bowie, what a blast from the past. Speaking of blasts, I do hear his name mentioned quite a bit with the longest homeruns at the Old Box.
