Wait, I thought our special teams coach was highly regarded. Is this where y’all rebut with how much our punter sucked?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I've never seen a successful Co-DC ran defense.

If you have Co-coordinators it’s because you really don’t have ONE.

Exactly. Remember when LSU under Miles had one Coordinator calling plays for the front 7 and another one calling plays for the secondary?

that was fricking hilarious.

We had a decent defense with Partridge and Durkin as co coordinators.

Keep partridge for recruiting purposes and bring in someone who can call a creative defense.

That's because Partridge wasn't calling any plays. We gave him that title to justify paying him more.

Yeah that’s what I’m saying.

Keep partridge for recruiting purposes and bring in someone else to call plays.

Let him keep his co DC title.

Anyone with a DC title that refuses to make any adjustments at all doesn't need that title anymore.

DC running a 3 man front needs to get the axe immediately . That is a non starter for this team . It does not work for us and only hurts us

our 3-3-5 did very well the last half of the 2021 season under Durkin once our transfers developed chemistry. They actually helped win us games when our offense began to sputter around the same time.

Plenty of teams have had success with the 3-3-5. MSU being one of them.

Our problem is we're lacking talent on the front and competent coaching. Watching our defensive backs line up with a 12 yard cushion every single play was more than frustrating.

Agree with these statements. Kiffin's offense tends to get too much credit and Durkin's D too much criticism. Also, LSU won a title w/ co-OC's.

If you have large OL and the right LBs then yes it will work. We seem to never have the right pieces to fit that scheme.

Our defense was solid the second half of 2021 once those transfers got up to speed. Chance Campbell played a big role in that defense. We definitely needed a headhunter LB but our DL was very similarly built.

Our problem with defense for the last decade has been a lack of LB depth. We've had a decent one here and there but we have lacked 3-4 solid guys. That needs to be fixed if we ever want to have a decent D.

I don't think we win more than seven games in 2021 without Campbell. He was an incredible player and leader for us. Towards the end of the year, we were never out of place and really started tackling well, especially in space. Now of course those trends reversed in 2022 though.

the most glaring difference between the two defenses is we played aggressive and swarmed in 2021. We were a read/react defense this past season and were constantly playing on our heels.

From the northeast and only here because of Partridge so not surprising. Figured he would enter but was really hoping he wouldn’t.
